Iowa needs 3

If Iowa doesn't get in - and I don't think they will - they've got nobody to blame but themselves. Even winning 2 games this weekend only gets them in the discussion; it doesn't guarantee anything.

The late game meltdowns at Wisconsin, Purdue, and Minnesota, and the 2nd half collapse in Lincoln took it out of the Hawks hands and placed their post-season fate into the hands of the committee.

I like Iowa's chances really, with two wins this weekend. Like most have been saying, pull 3 wins and its a matter of seeding.
Too much potty mouthing Iowa's resume - you look at some of the other teams on the proverbial bubble, and Iowa stacks up very favorably against those. I personally think Iowa is being downplayed and drug through the mud far too much. Finishing in the top 1/2 of the Big Ten is no small deal, its a real grinder.

2 wins has got to put them in the tournament, particularly if Minnesota gets beat on Thursday. I'd think they'd have to put Iowa in ahead of Minnesota in that scenario. Minnesota has collapsed down the stretch, something like 5-10. A win by Iowa over MSU on a neutral court > than Minnesota's win over Indiana on their home court.

Same here, but I still think 2 wins only gets them in the conversation. That loss to Nebraska hurt worse than the losses to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Purdue.

I disagree, they are already in the conversation and I think a win over MSU gets them in. But we can debate this all day, that is why there is so many threads discussing this very topic.

I don't think anybody is disputing that. The issue, IMHO, is that Iowa will finish alone in 6th, have beaten (handily) two teams that finished below them, and those teams will make the Dance while Iowa will have to settle for the NIT. THAT is my problem with it. Yes, we scheduled a weak noncon schedule and blew some late game/big leads. But we still finished alone in 6th. Ahead of two teams generally considered to be in the Dance. THAT's what bothers me.

Just my $.02 .. ..

GO HAWKS!!!

There's your reason. Committee does NOT care how you finished in conference they only care who you beat, where you beat them, and how GOOD the competition was you beat.

Scheduling will keep the Hawks out if they don't make it (I still think they have a shot). Weak non-con and a comparatively weak B1G schedule didn't do you guys any favors. Just think if you had played OSU, Michigan and MSU twice instead of Purdue, Penn St and Nebby twice. Yes, you could be a lot lower than 6th in conference, but your RPI would be MUCH better.

I think Iowa would have beaten Ohio State in Carver, and maybe Michigan (depending on when that hypothetical game were played).

Funny that this thread turned into: “what we needed to get to make the dance.”

Originally I had asked about how people would feel if we didn't make it. All and all I think this answers the question.

NO ONE WANTS TO THINK NIT YET!

I am still waiting for the “I am just happy we can talk about this!” post.
