Iowa is so far behind Wisconsin

The top recruit in Wisconsin, Diamond Stone, is going to go to Maryland instead of Wisconsin. Wisconsin could be without a center next year.

... so could Iowa ...

OH, YEAH - ba-dum, chsssh!

(Sorry, it was low hanging fruit and just had to do it.)

That was great hilites of Matt Gatens lighting it up. If Fran can have two shooters like that on the floor most of the time I think the hawks have the chance to staying upper 3-4 in the conference and maybe winning a regular season Bball title.

KF just needs to find more, better players like he had from 2008-10.

No doubt about it.... I think he's been searching for that and hoping that some combo of Jok Ellington and Flemming in the next couple years can do just that.... If MG could get better, more confident and aggressive with taking them look out. Cause Uthoff we know isn't shy about taking them and that'd put 4 capable shooters on the floor at once and that's todays basketball. You need guys that can shoot and at least one if not two ball handlers that can dribble drive to break down the D to get those open looks. Next year will be a totally different team then this one but I think they can be pretty good and they'll put points on the board.

I dunno about that. They just have a knack of finding the right dude. Hindsight being 20/20, going from Dick Bennett to Bo Ryan was brilliant. What if they convince Tony Bennett to go from Virginia to Wisconsin........guarantee they will not skip a beat.

I kind of like Bo Ryan. I hope they find someone so they can be competitive next year. Of Course, this could be the last year for Ryan too.

Watching that video vs #15 Wisconsin reminded me how amazing Matt Gatens was and how great of a Hawkeye he was. I miss that kid.

Also, it seemed like Carver was more electric then what he was all the last 2 years, or is it just me?

Do you mean ones like "Iowa fans are so far behind Wisconsin"? And then they mock us for constantly ******** about the same things?

Bo having the ultimate success towards the end of his career. It goes to show what patience and continued work year after year can get you. You get a system established and recruit players that fit your system. Then you get that special set and you make a run.

This is what bodes well for Fran if he hangs in there, continues to work his plan and we keep supporting him.

You suppose Uthoff regrets leaving Wisconsin?
The only fault I have with Bo Ryan is his inflexibility with regard to how a player fits into his system. JU is not a 4-5 as Bo would have had him be.

Bo is at the apex of his 14-year tenure at Wisconsin, with his 2 best players ever. Difficult to compare to Iowa at this point. Revisit the comparison at Fran's 14th season.

How about Michigan St. as well? Iowa is a loooooong ways behind both programs. Reason #1427 why Bary Garta should be fired.

Bo has been good since he landed at Wisconsin. NCAA's, competing for titles in the league every year. The NCAA tournament is a crapshoot every season so it's not like it took him 14-years to "ramp it up".

izzo and Bo are the standard bearers in the BIG and the league is better for them in it. Better for every team

Yes, TI and BR are great coaches for their respective programs and the B1G.

But, neither Bo nor Izzo had to follow the job Lickliter did as a coach at iowa. TL dug such a trench that Fran has had room to improve the team record every year of his tenure. Once again, revisit a comparison to other long-term coaches in the B1G when McCaffery is here as long as TI and BR have been.

For as much credit as Izzo gets (and rightfully so) Fran tied him in the conference this year. And like linesetter said, the tournament is kinda a crap shoot. His March record is really good but most games end up close and winning a close game involves some luck. It's not like Izzo's coaching had anything to do with the kid from Louisville missing that free throw.

His own player missed two free throws just prior to that.

You don't win 13 NCAA tournament games against teams seeded better than you by just being lucky. The guy can coach.

in football and basketball they will never catch up.

The B1G titles and Rose Bowl appearances. The elite running backs.

NEVER finishing less than 4th in the last 15 years in bball. 3 final four appearances.

The list goes on and on. Meanwhile, some on here think Barta is doing such a great job since our Women's team made the sweet 16 and baseball has improved. LOL

Our baseball and wrestling teams kick their ***!!!

We have to share our state with two other Basketball power houses. One in a Power 5 conference (UNI) the other in a pretty good mid-major league (ISU)

Wisconsin has their state all to themselves..
