Iowa Adds JUCO RB

This kind of shocks me.
How does this play out if say Brock wants in? I can't see them saying no, but at the expense of a scholly that could have been used at another position.
But this might answer my question about who 1-3 backs are this year, so at least we most likely know that now.

Maybe the clowns have a hold on him? That would make a person puke!

A walk on JUCO isn't going to affect the status of a 4* RB at all. I'm betting this just means that Toks isn't going to be playing football any longer. Plus we are short on RB anyway, adding another RB isn't going to scare off recruits.

deano, you could very well be right. i just think that the "situation" lends itself to being either or, right now. you bring in a juco with 2 years left. now, he plays in '18 and is done in '19. that means Brock should be concerned as he'd be a FR in '19. No big deal. But he could also be a bridge because things aren't looking the same for Brock. I tend to agree w/u but we'll see.

I would also say that this reinforces my opinion that Geil becomes the starter as a FR as soon as (if) he picks up the blocking scheme. I wasn't overly impressed with IKM and TY in their limited carries. Each had 1 big game but otherwise, they didn't wow me. IKM did look better to me than TY by a good bit and he seems likliest to be in a RB rotation in '18. Again, we shall see.

How many years of eligibility does he have? He must want to play D1 football and taking a chance to get a schollie. He might really help in kick coverage, maybe being a very good returner at some time. And he might get his chance to get a lot of carries.

Once again, why would Brock be concerned about a walk on player? Iowa is really short on scholarship RB right now, and even if Iowa brings in 5 more walk on RB, it is still going to be appealing for Brock and playing time.

I am not SAYING Brock is concerned with a walk on player. i AM saying the staff might be worried that Brock is starting to lean towards a different school. jNW concerns me a great deal re: Brock. Playing time for Brock is just as plentiful at jNW. We're both speculating dean, this isn't a who is right contest, at this point, because we won't know until Brock signs with who he picks. but even as a "walk on" i see real talent with Sargent and he looks like a legit player to me and that is why i think its at least possible the staff is concerned about Brock.

Sargent has 3 years left.

I am hoping he is a talent...point is...in terms of recruiting, keeping others from signing...not a story, IMHO...walk-ons happen.

Interesting...he is from Key West...we spent our honeymoon there...it was a gay time. Interesting place.

This has more to do about Toks probably not being able to play football than any '19 recruit.

The staff has been concerned about the depth at RB since the end of last season. This was a predictable calculated move with Toks' status up in the air and Bryan coming off injury. My guess is that this has nothing to do with the staff's feel on Brock, or any other RB recruit.

Exactly. The staff is concerned about depth, heck they had to move Cam Harrel to RB this spring just to have enough bodies, and plan on making Evans a RB as well.
