Your hatred of Jake shows pretty clearly. I get the feeling you watch Michigan games just to find something wrong that Jake did. Michigan is up 31-0 on a ranked team and you want to point out one bad pass. You need to let it go.

Jeez people are so crazy. You get that I hate Jake? I'm not even watching the game. I saw a gif of the play on twitter.
 
Can you imagine CJ with like a real weapon like what you have to go to a gun store in Texas in order to buy? Like sending him to Afghanistan with a compound bow and some of those explosive tipped arrows and asking him to rescue some hostages? Or maybe he is more of a MacGuyver type guy who uses glue and a chocolate bar to save a bunch of school kids from a herd of wild buffalo.
 
CJ just keeps getting better. Give him Darboh and Willies and this team is in the playoffs.

i am amazed to see all the speculation surrounding the past situation concerning Derrick. Judging by some of the harsh comments i am very hesitant to say anything. However, I will say that derrick is a awesome kid with good grades and had no intentions on being the topic of these conversations. I would say that a great deal of what is said about him is unfair. Iowa was fortunate to have him when they did and he endured a dark time in hawkeye history. For him to leave you may say he quite or whatever, is short sighted looking through a lens of a hawk fan. Again, he is a really good kid and good student. Some kids are not taught some of the life skills needed to go through what he has gone through. Where he is now has forced him to take a look at what has happened and make him better. His experience at the Juco level is exactly what he needed and i am confident whatever he chooses he will better as a whole than what he ever could have been by staying at Iowa(and i am a lifelong hawkfan). Living as if football is all there is can be bad as opposed to using it as you grow and learn valuable lessons along the way. One without sin cast the first stone

I don't disagree with anything that you said besides the part in bold. Why exactly is it shortsighted for any Hawk fan to believe he quit? Did he or did he not voluntarily leave his team in the middle of their season? What would you call that?

If you have more details that would clarify exactly what happened, and if it wasn't Derrick's fault, then I understand where you are coming from. However, given the information most Hawkeye fans know he absolutely quit so that's not a shortsighted observation at all.

Which is understandable. Especially for her someone his age who has had a rough upbringing. I get it. I don't expect him to be perfect and I don't believe any other fans do either. However, I'm not the one branding him as a quitter. That's what happens when you voluntarily leave a high-profile team mid-season and most of their fans were expecting big things out of you. Again, it's understandable. Everyone grows up differently and learns their own lessons along the way, but he most definitely quit on his teammates.

I think CJ was sympathetic to Derrick (maybe cuz he was also stuck behind someone will less talent) and that sympathy lead to him staying where he was on the depth chart in 2014. Politics are a part of every aspect of life, even in sports, even at Iowa.
 
I guess I just have a hard time with the whole "Don't brand him a quitter" thing. Personally, I joined the military when I was 17. I didn't have the best childhood either. That's a big part of the reason why I joined the military. I wanted to get away from things at home. However, there were many points in my military career where it sucked and I didn't want to be there. Quitting wasn't an option though. You don't quit the military. If you do you get in big trouble and you have the honor of explaining to future employers why you have a Dishonorable Discharge on your record.

Maybe I'm a little callous because of my experiences, but I don't feel sympathy for Willies. He earned himself an awesome opportunity to be a scholarship athlete at a B10 University and he left his team midway through the season. Because of his talent and ability he will get a second chance. In my experience with the military second chances don't exist for people who choose to walk away from their commitment. "I'm sorry Drill Sergeant, I'm just trying to find my way. Please let me go!". Yeah good luck with that one. No pity here for a kid who had an awesome opportunity and walked away from it.

It's especially funny when you look at how much Kirk has changed. The offense is lining up with CJ in shotgun and 5 WR's with no TE's at times. They aren't showing any hesitation in letting CJ make plays. Young man made a really bad decision.

If you don't think Texas Tech has a chance to do any damage in the B12 this year or in the future you must not be watching much college football this year.

Is there a difference between Willies and Rudock? Rudock left at the end of last season (and strung Iowa and his coaching staff along for months into the next preseason). Who was the backup? Who knew? What was Jake gonna do? That's different than quitting at the middle of the season when the coaching staff had no intention of playing Willies? Are you nuts?

Iowa coaches wanted Jake but they didn't want Willies. Now, one could argue the ability of the Iowa coaching staff in evaluating offensive talent. Rudock had already started for 2 years, you know.

No links needed--DW didn't even make the trip to Maryland. The Purdue game was on TV. Evidently, one person missed DW running wrong routes and not blocking. But you could probably still get it on youtube or BTN On Demand or somewhere else.

Or they never make it to--or back to--a D1 school. Or when they get there, they are virtually the same as all the other JUCO transfers and not as schooled as those who have been on said campus their whole careers.
