If you were Beathard's parent, would you encourage him to transfer?

Just curious here what others think. Rudock is most likely to be Iowa's QB for quite a while yet to come barring an injury. CJ hasn't seen the field this year, except for a few plays. If your were his parent and counseling him, would you think it is in his best interest to transfer out after this year, especially if he feels he can play as a starter elsewhere?

By the way, I think he has a great upside. Primarily due to his better arm strength than Rudock. I wish KF would get him a series or two per game minimum. It might spark some more offense.

Nope. I would tell my kid, i believe if you try harder you can win the job. You are playing d1 and that means competition.

Is beathard 5?

If not i think he can figure things out himself. hopefully they raised him to think on his own.

No way. I'd tell him if wants something he needs to earn it. And that means work. I'd also tell him that if shies away from competition now he takes a step down a path that only makes it easier to do the same thing everytime he faces a challenge for the rest of his life. Choices become behaviors and behaviors become habits.

I have been thinking all year that there is a strong possibility of this happening. This kid has a ton of upside but I cannot blame the coaches for playing Rudock. I really, really like Jake as well and think both and probably all three QB's have moved this position ahead light years from the past couple of seasons. I just wish Beathard had come along one season later.

A major problem in KF's program is entrenchment. Once a player earns trust they often do not have to continue to compete for the spot over time. In some cases you will see the performance level off or drop a little because the incentive of playing time is locked up.

I see this in Weismann this year. He continues to be a good player but I do not see the desire to finish many of his runs like he did last year. The incentive to do that is gone because he is the starter.

Is there any discussion here that doesn't turn into a ferentz bitchfest?

Come on now. That's a pretty strong accusation you're throwing around without any proof.

Not until the program proves it on the field on a more consistent basis. I have news for you that scoring few if any points in the second half of league games and against Northern IL throws up a red flag on players and coaches not getting it done.

Sit in the stands and watch a player fall to the ground on the slightest contact when he used to run through this and you will see what I am talking about. Not saying this happens on every run but boy last year he ran with authority and really earned the respect of the fan base like he had something to prove. This year it looks a little different.

Good thing you are here to show us the light. Monotonous repetitive redundant light.

I would tell him to follow his heart and to make the best decision for him and his future.

Some kids want nothing to do with holding the clipboard. Some are content in being on a part of a D1 program and getting an education.

You are a football savant. Any other wisdom and insighr you want to share? You obviously have it all figured out.

This year everyone knows who he is. And I've not seen any such thing from Weisman. Kid busts his butt out there.

I am sick and tired of seeing about a quarter to a quarter and a half of offensive football. I want to see the coaches demand accountability through playing time. You produce you play. Simple stuff. If cannot finish your blocks or your runs I am going to find someone else who will especially in the second half.

Questioning how much effort Weisman is giving is probably one of the single dumbest things I've seen posted on here in quite some time, and that's saying something... Seriously man I think it's alright to critique certain things but to call him out for "not having any incentive" without having any justifiable proof whatsoever is completely unnecessary.
