If you were Beathard's parent, would you encourage him to transfer?

hard for me to say that 4/16 is a good indication of anything Jon.

75% of his throws were desperation heaves and had about 3 drops in there.

No, I would encourage him to understand that OL can't block for more than a three count and that there are underneath routes ;)

4/16. There is no QB controversy, but he has talent

he had one bad play the sack.. the rest was him being tossed into obvious passing downs throwing into the wind, and his WRs not catching balls hitting them in the hands

I would of liked to see him take his free yards with his feet a bit more though.. He had a couple opportunities for 6-7 yard gains before the game got out of hand.

If CJ is the starter next week and gets all the practice I think he will do well.

they will probably go to more zone read and use his feet.

He threw some nice passes that should have been caught to give him about a 50% clip and a lot of yards

The kid has a ton of upside with that cannon he has for an arm....but it would be great if he learned to put some touch on the ball...goodness.

I like him. I just think he is way too confident in his arm.

This exactly. He isn't very pocket savvy and he held the ball longer than he should have. He wanted to throw downfield and he should have checked down a few times. Jon is right if jake is healthy there is no controversy. Maybe in a year CJ can fix those things but right now if we want to win rudock is the guy.

I do agree his footwork in the pocket was his biggest glaring weakness, but I think it's a little unfair to call him on holding the ball too long when they were all coverage sacks from being in expected passing situations. I think he had one drive in the 3rd quarter w/ the wind and Davis called it really vanilla (can't really blame him being his first time against a defense of that caliber.)

I'd like to see what he can do with a full game, and actually have the ability to utilize the run game as a threat.
