If, on the 1% chance Iowa can somehow beat OSU in the Shoe,

I put money on OSU to cover… first time in my life I’ve bet against Iowa let alone get smashed

Fast forward to Saturday's post-game presser: "I'll tell you what Dolph, that is a pretty good Ohio State team but we have a lot of positives to take away from that one. Brian Ferentz dialing up a double reverse pass to LaPorta for that 2 point conversion with two seconds left on the clock was really amazing. I know we lost by 27, but those two touchdowns and that two point conversion in the last four minutes really give us something to build on."

Does Day have any sympathy in his body is the question. This could be 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. How fast does he pull the plug on his starters and think big picture/ They are playing for all the marbles. Not to worry about anybody elses feelings. Idealy they'd like to get up 30-40 pts in the first half and not even trot out the starters in the 2nd if they could. Unless OSU has a mass of injuries and fluky plays/TOs Iowa doesn't have a shot at keeping this game close let alone winning it.
Fine with me if OSU gives us their best shot. The results will tell the tale.

My wife asked if I wanted to hit any haunted houses this weekend. I said "no" I'm going to ramp the fright level up this Halloween season and watch the IA vs OSU game on TV instead. I heard the Hawks will be wearing their new Gladiator uniforms this weekend by the way.

Note - Can't pass up mentioning I was present for the last two Hawk victories in The Shoe.

Yup.

It'd buy Brian a whole bunch of time that he shouldn't get, IMO.
My buzz is totally killed because I remember the last time Iowa played tOSU and Brian called a very dynamic game; breaking every tendency we had. And at that time, the team wasn't looking good. For a brief second, I thought... they figured it out, you got all these TE's use them. And then, poof.... One shot of what could be... into dust. Never to be seen again. If for whatever reason, Iowa found themselves a win because they, for one day, had a real offensive scheme... I know down deep in my heart, it would be a one time occurrence and the team would revert back to what they are on offense. Brian could be coaching for his job in this one. In a very Steve Alford like thing, you only have to win some big games to keep your job.

Iowa has opened as a 28.5 point underdog. I can’t remember a spread like this in recent memory!
On one hand I can totally see it. On the other hand, they are disrespecting our defense.

Could be 63-17
Could also be 38-14

Iowa's only chance is if Ohio St is looking ahead to the next game.....and they still may win by three scores.

I would love for Iowa to win. But for some reason I don’t even want them to look competitive.
2014 was the year for me, Kirk had to be forced to play CJ Bethard the next year and win 12 games.
Luckily for Kirk he didn’t stick with his gut (James V) so he still has a job.

I keep racking my brain trying to come up with the final score.

Tennessee scored 50+ agains Alabama for crying out loud. Could OSU hang half a hundred on the hawks?

Can Iowa have some semblence of offense and use up some clock and keep the ball away from OSU?

If I were an animator I'd develop ad cartoon of a crazy iowa fan, who was walking down the street in IC and hears someoen say "We need O" so he goes to columbus on Thursday, rents a huge truck and steals all the O's in town and comes back and dumps them on KF's front yard. People in Clumbus wake up to find they have no Os in _hi_
Me too, our defense is good but Ohio State has 3 studs for wide receivers that will give the secondary fits. Our hope is they won’t give up a lot of big plays to make them work to get it down the field and eating clock. That’s about the only way I can see Iowa covering the spread.

The offense might as well just take a knee and just punt the ball.

I think we slow them down a bit in the 1st half and then after multiple 3 and outs we get worn down. I will be surprised if we score a touchdown. 31 to 3 seems about right.

While I don't think we will win, it would not be the most bizarre upset in the history of college football. And, that is a tantalizing spread given that we do have a very good defense and special teams. But, OSU has an embarassment of riches on offense, so 34-6 seems about right. Betting college games with huge spreads is a suckers bet, IMHO.

Let's not forget how officiating can fit into this equation. Although it has not been the soul reason Iowa has lost 3 games.....it has also been a factor this year. If Iowa gets a clean game called here, the defense comes up with some turnovers (even score off of them....anything can happen. Very unlikely, but not impossible.

Monkeys might just fly out my ass too. Very unlikely, but not impossible. You have seen our offense??

TBH I'm kind of shocked it's only 28.5 points. I can't for the life of me see us hitting double digits and not sure we keep them under 30. I see it somewhere around a 40-6 type blow out. Would love to be wrong though and see our defense add a few TD's.

Not sure we can really play the officiating card when our offense has been our own worst enemy in 2 of the 3 losses. Michigan just flat out beat us.

'member that time we had a team that was probably a little better than this team and it lost by 39 points against Michigan in the Big Ten title game? Great opening drive that resulted in 3 points and no more scoring the whole way. Maybe people betting Iowa forget about that game.

I’m laughing at those of you that think Iowa beating Ohio State is somehow a bad thing. I mean it’s not going to happen but beating the best program in the conference is never a bad thing. Come on guys!
Iowa beating OSU is never a bad thing. And it's not Iowa winning that people see as a bad thing. Its the other side of the equation that in the event Iowa wins then BF is totally off the hook and the all that is wrong with our offense gets swept under the rug. Your right that it's never a bad thing to want to beat the best team in the conference, however in order for change to ever happen there has to be outcomes indicating changes need to be made. In this case it's the losses. No one wants Iowa to lose. They want changes to occur.
