I want the bugeaters to get beat...

My dad had season tickets for over forty years. He passed away a few years ago. He always said that the most enjoyable Hawk game he ever attended was the '81 Nebraska game.

Just because of the arrogance & attitude of the Nebraska fans before the game, he always said he never went into another game wanting the Hawks to win so badly. My dad was not a vengful person, but from that day forward he hated evrything Nebraska.

Unfortunantly, I was not able to attend the '81 game. However, I did see several Nebraska games in Ames during the mid 70's. I was young & stupid & dated a girl that went to Moo U. So, during her four years there, I always visited when Oklahoma & Nebraska came to town.

Until you've experience Nebraska as the visiting team, you are clueless as to how arrogant they are. Ohio State fans at their most arrogant aren't even close to Nebraska fans.

Completely agree and know where you're coming from.

Wife is a husker, originally from Lincoln. Have to go there on occasion for family get togethers and the like. While her family is somewhat cool about it, I have never met a bigger bunch of douchenozzle fans than Nebraska's. If I happen to be wearing Iowa gear there, always and I mean always, expect to get some stupid crap about how Iowa is some lower tier team that couldn't hang with Neb, or the B10 sucks.

The thing that's starting to **** me off is when her family tries to get my young kids to chant Go Huskers or root for them if they're not playing an Iowa team. BS! If you're in my house you will be rooting for Iowa and wearing Iowa gear. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

Dylan - I've had to work in a dept surrounded by Husker fans, this was during their '90's run, so I feel your pain. Nothing makes me smile more than to see their arrogance (putting it nicely) humbled like last night.

I feel your pain about the rooting for other team thing. My inlaws have been doing this for years. I just shrug it off because sometimes inlaws are like that. Living in desmoines it hasnt been the easiest living in hawkeye nation either. The fans here were pretty arrogant after last year and well. After your first loss it was pretty bad. But when you guys lost to Minn i thought i was going to see heaps of people jumping off 235 bridges. Ive ran into plenty of ******** hawkeye fans as well over the years. People telling me dont bother comming into kinnick if you dont want trouble. Big 10 aint no big 12, your gonna get your a** creamed next year. Frankly i dont care because next year is next year. Iowa and Nebraska has both played flat at times this year so please spare me of the curb stomping we will recieve next year. Offence and Defence was ran to what the big 12 is strong for. Im sure it will be reworked. If we get our butts handed to us then i guess you guys were right. If we dont then im sure it will be some fluke thing on why we won. Either way it doesnt matter because the season is over. We beat Missouri and OSU but lost to a crappy Washington Team. You handily beat MSU and Iowa State but lost to Minn.

I can understand Nebraska's being flat. They got jobbed out of a better bowl (likely because they're leaving the conference), and got stuck playing a team that they curb-stomped in September. I'd have a hard time getting up for a game like that, too.
I call BS...it is the head coaches job to get his team ready to play. It is up to the D1 athletes to man up and play the game to win. Here in SW Iowa it was clear they had terrible practices before they left for San Diego...and they laid an egg. There is no excuse for not being prepared to play in a bowl game. Iowa could of felt slighted too..I mean we had better records then some of the teams in front of us...

The N is for Nowledge.

Id like to think that Im a good dude and I give Neb nothing but respect. but when I go to my local grocery store to get bread and the clerk says "Nice shirt D bag" I cant help but get a little p o about it. Im sorry Big Red truck guy about what you go through but in my neck of the woods I cant help but to feel a little happy about neb loss. Especially to a unranked team. I know it goes both ways and every fan base has its bad apples. Im just gona sit on my cloud today and have fun with it.

I am currently sitting in an office in Omaha where I could be a lot meaner to the Husker State more than some of our fellow Hawkeyes fans have been but I am not. What I have told them this year is I won't talk crap, but if you do and Iowa wins November 26, 2011, then for 365 days, you are mine and I will let you know it everyday until November 25, 2012. So far, its worked out well.

Nebraska Cornhuskers 2011 motto should be, "I don't think we are in Kansas anymore"

I have been in Nebraska for 20 years now. Nothing I love more than a husker loss. Nobody talking football today, too bad, so sad. I rock Iowa gear in a small town, and nobody says crap to me. I can't wait for next season, as long as Bo and Taylor are in Lincoln, I like our chances. Just think of the bragging rights at work. I am considering a large flagpole for the yard also. Better dead than red, Go Hawks!

No i think it should be the old staple. This aint no big 12 north chucking fuskers.

Damit, nebraska lost. Time to take it out on some Iowa farm animals.

I always get a kick out of the uninformed Husker fans not really getting basic geography. Far more desolate farm country in the state of Nebraska than Iowa. Far smaller population. Go to the Sandhills- they still carry sidearms there. After the first 100 miles on I-80 you've driven past about 80% of the state's population.

And oh by the way, do a little fact checking: Nebraska and Iowa are essentially tied in total livestock production so I'm sure you can find plenty of farm animals nearby to cuddle with.

Great to see them lose. Used to live there, and anyone who has and doesn't happen to be a Husker fan quickly becomes a die hard hater due to one of the absolute worst most arrogant and obsessive fan bases in all of football. Really looking forward to seeing how many they will drop next season.

I lived in Columbus, OH for 8 years and it was no where near as bad as Nebraska, and that's saying something.

That's what I think most people miss. Until you've had to live, work or exist by them, most have no idea about the true levels of douchiness of nub fans.

I mean, if I'm stooping to a level of outright cheering for Iowa State to beat them, that speaks volumes.

In response to "BigRedPowrWagon":

Dude that didn't even make sense. The simple fact that Nebraskans (note- as you live in West Des Moines, you are presently an Iowan) think that somehow their desolate underpopulated state is somehow the apex of sophistication is amusing at best. Any one of them who makes a comment about the multitude of livestock within the borders of Iowa compared to Nebraska is further proving their levels of ignorance.

I hope im not the only person that found this statement hilarious...

Ok the day is half way done and all the text messages and coffee talk at local gas station all agree that Neb was robbed because of bad refs and play calling.

Do husker fans always resort to "the refs were bad"

seriously?

Obviously, I live in Nebraska. I have lived in the state for 5 years and never cease to be amazed at Big Red fans. Now on one side, Big Red fans earn my respect. They live, breath and die red. On the other side, they are the most arrogant, loud mouthed, rude fans I have ever been around.

I enjoy wearing my Hawkeye garb, whenever I can and while I get dirty looks (My job is a very visable position in the region that I live), I have never had anyone say a word to me about wearing my black and gold. That being said, I am not looking forward to listening to the crap that will flow out of people's mouths next year.

After saying the above, I also have to say, there really are a lot of really great people in Nebraska, really...unfortunately, most of those are not Husker fans! See I really did try to be nice...

You must of lived in a different part of Nebraska or something...I was constantly made fun of for wearing Iowa stuff...people stole our Iowa flags...they were down right rude...

Its not like someone didnt rip the nebraska decals off my wifes car when i had them on there. Again, pretty sure there are idiots both fanbases. Please dont lump us with the people in the big 10 who aparently think this is ok.

That is horribly rediculous. OMG My house has been tp'd and im pretty sure its because i have a huge Iowa Flag out front. But that is really bad. That will never happen in any of my circles
