I normally don't complain about officiating

But how does Olaf commit about 8 fouls and be called for 4?

And the phantom call on Oglesby in regulation was a H-S call.

Sorry, but that's how I saw it.

Hey, there were a lot of calls I didn't like... but when you shoot 33% from the field and get outrebounded and have more turnovers it doesn't matter who you play - you're going to lose.

The officiating definitely favored Northwestern. There's no question about that. NW was going over the back constantly and we were getting mugged down low and very few fouls called. I'm not saying we lost because of the refs, but they sure didn't help.

They may have been over the back a bit. But if we box out and push them back 2 feet, we get the call. When we stand inside the lane at about 3-5 feet from the basket, we will NOT EVER get those calls.

Again, the reason we lost is 33% shooting, getting outrebounded and having more turnovers. It's the triple threat of losing.

Typical Hok fans. We kicked your butts fair and square. NU had six fouls at the first TV timeout in the second half. If anything, they tried to bail you guys out.

The refs didn't cost us the game, the fact is that NW has lost 10 in a row, and they were ****** about that and took it out on an Iowa team that forgot it was game day.....end of story....disgraceful way to start yet another slide to a 9-9 conference record because that's where it's headed and the Fran Van is running on empty w/no filling station for miles...

It was horrible officiating but that's not what cost Iowa the game. Very poor coaching and player rotation and poor play by the Dynamic Duo killed this team. I don't think I have seen a 7-1 player with less speed, upper arm and hand strength and literally no ups than I have watching this team, starting three years ago. Gabe at least has some strength and aggressiveness; he deserves to start and get the most minutes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Blaming this game on the officials. Are you kidding me? NW is terrible. Iowa should destroy them, and not ever be in a position where the officiating should even remotely impact a game.

This team is soft and plays with NO energy. Uthoff hits a 3-pointer to tie the game and send it in to OT, and the only kids who showed any emotion were a couple of walk-ons at the end of the bench.

Regardless of officiating, the outcome of this game had nothing to do with the officials. As someone pointed out we were in the bonus 4 minutes in to the second half. This game comes down to a bunch of guys that act like they don't want to be there and a coach who does not know how to handle rotations. JO hit his first shot in 2 months,( he also bricked 4) and this coach decides he should be in the game for 25 minutes now.

This team admitted they were not ready to play against Minnesota and were beat in warm ups. How the heck are you not ready to play??

And I am tired of listening to White and Gessell talk about how good they are and how this team can beat anyone. No you can't.

This loss was disgusting and unacceptable, but it was NOT on the officials.

That was me who pointed out that there were 6 fouls on NU at the first TV timeout of the second half. The officiating was bad both ways, but I think Iowa got more calls than we did.

JO had a great game. His 6 points in 25 minutes almost balanced out Sobolewski's 8 points in 10 minutes.

The officials were awful but there is no reason to lose to Northwestern. Iowa should have never even been in a close game.

Why do you say they shouldn't have been in a close game? MSU, OSU, and maryland were all in close games. If they would have had an untimely call go against them, they would have lost too.

Saw this posted over on HN.com. Where you at dochilohook?

I have never called anybody out on this message board for complaints about officiating nor have I asked people to not complain about refs. I do call out cyfans who have game threads which should be called ref complaint threads because there are more posts about refs than they do about the games. According to cyfans, of which you are clearly one of, they've never lost a game. They've been robbed of every game they've ever lost. They complain about refs before games start and the embarrassment that is Jamie Pollard takes it to an unbelievable level. It speaks to the 3 year old mentality of cyfans to continue their rants and cry about there clearly unbiased accounts of the refs. When Hawkeye Nation complains about the refs as much as cyfans do I will call them out. Your girlfriend, Mrs. Williams clearly endorses and encourages that kind of posting while Mr. Miller controls this site and will shut down threads if they get out of control. The fact that you're able to continue to post here shows the professional job that Jon Miller does and if a Hawk fan posted something similar on cyfan he would be banned a long time ago by the little girls club over there. When the person who runs cyfan and 90% of the posters think professional wrestling is real you have to question their mental capacities.

Depends. The student section was totally crazy and they got in Woodbury's head. Had he been the one shooting FTs, we likely would not have lost.

First of all. Iowa had no business winning that game or taking it to overtime. Not beating them by ten should have been considered a loss. NW is not a good team at all. So that said the officiating still sucked. White was hit a bunch of times with no call. A couple of the fouls against JO were just bad calls. And saying that is just being honest and not crying over spilled milk. I think Iowa got just what they deserved. They played bad D most of the night and couldn't get an inside game going often enough against their zone. So if it wasn't for some hot shooting by Jok early JO late and Uthoff off and on all game long Iowa wouldn't have even been in it. One of the most frustrating games to have ever watched that's for sure.

I seriously don't understand why folks thinks Iowa should have blown out nw.

Folks, nw isn't that bad, minny isn't that bad, nebby ain't that bad. There isn't One team in the Big that's so bad that you can shoot 33% and expect to blow them out.

cripes.

Ignore him Doc. Or at least only give him short responses. He isn't worth a lot of effort. He's been fantastic at staying under the obvious isu troll radar for a long time.

We lost this game for several reasons but I still want to know how a team could be whistled for 6 fouls in 4 minutes and zero fouls in the final 16 minutes. How could that not impact a game that went to OT?

I am not sure I have ever seen a game where my team or our opponent went 16 straight minutes without a foul (not even a bad call foul against which we know happens). Three different officials and not one hold, push, grab, slap, block, hack. Not one. And it just so happened that the next foul would have been the bonus and an opportunity for points.

As bad as I feel about losing part of me is amazed how this team was able to come from behind and take a lead without a single call in 16 minutes of action.

Then the same crew whistled NW for a couple early in the OT? Wow. Nice consistency. Suddenly NW decided it was okay to foul again then after 16 minutes?
