Husker fans keep amazing me

Their reported sellout streak is something but you have to figure the differences between Nebraska and Iowa. Nebraska is a smaller state but has a much larger population base within an hour of Lincoln than Iowa has in Iowa City. Plus from what I hear, the lots and bars are empty when the games are going on where as downtown IC and the tailgates are packed.

Expect this early and often wtih these people. They are unbelievable. This fanbase has for years talked about how pathetic the B10 is and how great the B12 is. As soon as there is remote possibility of them joining the B10 they are all for it. Delusional fans that I would love to beat down every year, the question is - is it worth putting up with these dip$hits?

The good thing about the gameday atmospheres is Lincoln pales in comparison to Iowa City. I know a huge Big Red fan, he's one of those guys thats already talking about how they are going to beat Iowa and win the B10 every year. But even he admitted after going to Iowa for a game that Iowa City is head and shoulders above Lincoln. The handful of other NE fans I know that have been to both all admit Iowa City has the better atmosphere.

I expect NE fans to start thinking Colorado fans were gracious hosts after their first trip to Iowa City (just ask a Husker fan if you aren't familiar with that rivalry). If it happens I plan on being relentlessly brutal to them. I'm not that kind of fan normally, always cordial with visiting fans for the most part. But I hate Nebraska. If they come to Iowa City they should expect the worst. As funny as that would be, even better yet would be Iowa at Nebraska. Their hollowed grounds will be overrun with Hawkeye fever. They really have no idea what they're about to get into.

Nebraska and ND would make great sense in a conference rivalry for each other- two "storied" programs that haven't done squat the last decade. They could play for the deflated balloon at the end of every season.

Every fan base has their loonies. Part of the problem with the Husker fan base is that their own media is drumming up the hype concerning them becoming a dynasty again.

That sort of impression is, of course, rather short sighted because over Pelini's tenure the Husker O still hasn't yet played with a clear-cut sense of identity. That's not to say that their O won't eventually acquire them.

What constantly blows me away is that the Huskers really weren't all that impressive through the '10 season ... and all it took was a narrow loss to Texas and their rout of Arizona to get them all up in a chest-thumping frenzy. I simply don't get it.

How often do they point out that they basically changed up schemes BOTH on O and D in preparation for the bowl game. Husker fans will always tout how they manhandled Arizona ... and that is definitely true. However, what they don't mention is that Arizona had to basically scrap their entire game-plan for the game and simply react to everything that the Huskers were doing. That really provided the Huskers with a SUBSTANTIAL advantage.

Lastly, while the Huskers were VERY close to being only a 1-loss team during the regular season ... they were also EQUALLY close to being a 5-loss team during the regular season. And, mind you, that's also being a 5-loss team featuring one of the best Ds in college football too.

My favorite part of their sell out streak is that for a few years during their down years they gave away several thousand tickets in the few days before the game in order to have a sell-out. Does it really count as a sell out if you advertise 2 tickets at a time first come first serve?

Don't stoop to that level. Invite them in and make them feel welcome. We want them to go home after they lose and talk about how nice Iowa fans were and how awesome the Iowa City football experience is. If the fans are an ^&* to them then that will overshadow everything good about Iowa football. We are known as pretty good fans around the country and that is a large reason we are welcomed with open arms pretty much everywhere we go.

Yeah I get what you're saying, it would just be soooo damn hard to hold back from a Husker

Not all husker fans act that way, makeing it seem very unwelcome in iowa city.

And lets be honest here i can say easily say we were close to being a 1 loss team but you guys were easly close to being in the same boat as we were. Look im not here to bash or anything like that im not that type of fan. But when i read all this stuff you guys droll out kinda makes me alittle upset. Alot of nebraska fans are just as passionate as iowa fans are about there teams. I kinda joked with my co workers how stanzi always fell asleep until the 2nd half then hes like, ok guys we better get our s**t together.

And your right memorial isnt as rockin as kinnick is but it sure was last year during the oklahoma game.

Honestly i dont know how nebraska will fair in the big 10. Ill admit i was one of those people who thought the big 10 was a weaker conference. But i grew up in the 90s and didnt really start following football closley since 2005. So i dont know what the big 10 is really all about. Just always grew up seeing the big 12 and SEC teams going to the champ games.

Anyways just wanted to show you guys that all husker fans arent bad and puffy chested. Oh and before you make fun of my sig, its actually a tribute to my truck. 1977 Dodge Power wagon X-Brush Fire Truck. 23000 miles. Big Block and Full Time 4wd. Its a beast.

I always welcome opposing fans to the Kinnick experience. Always invite them to stop at our tailgate when I see them walk by. If they are going to make the effort to travel to IC to follow their team, they are OK by me.
I cringe when I see hooligan style hospitality shown to opposing fans at any stadium.
It reflects poorly on the college sports. I have always felt that way, even when I was much younger.

It is going to be epic in every way when this rivalry starts up. I cant wait to see the look on Husker fans faces when they leave IC after a beatdown. You arent going to be playing the 99 and 00 Hawks that were our worst teams in the last 25-30 years Neb fans. Get ready for a rude awakening.

Yep i cant wait for the epic beatdowns to start.

There are definitely some arrogant Husker fans out there, but I don't think they are any worse than any of our other rivals. Wisky fans, ISU fans, OSU fans MSU fans, ILL fans, etc. I could go on and on. Or any worse than some of our own that can be over zealous for that matter. I welcome the chance to play Nebraska in some meaningful conference games. I hope it happens, because it has the potential to become a storied rivalry.

Anybody have anything to back this up? I would love to rub this in the face of a couple bugeaters who brag about their "streak".
If we would have done that for a couple games we would be right there with them. I think we have only not sold out 2 or 3 games since ball st 2002.
