Here's why I am not worried about beating the clones this season...............

ISU will play like their pants are on fire and we will act disinterested as usual. Regardless of they play at QB, he will have some off the charts day and we will grind out 2-3 yards per play before punting it away like last year.

Since the Rhoads / Burnham era at ISU...............of the 21 teams that have had rushing yards of 200 plus in games against ISU, 18 of them have come out with a win.

Hint - Run the ball, Kirk.

Nice stat. Now mail it, fax it, email it, text it, tweet it, pony express it to both kf and G. Davis.

I think the stat to take away from Saturday is that the Hawks contained Lynch and didn't let him run wild. He had 22 rushes for 56 yards for a 2.5 yard avg and a long of 11 yards. Everyone is focused on the fake punt which was turrible but our special teams return units were awful. Cotton brought a couple out he had no business even touching and we only averaged 37 yards a punt. There are some very easy things to clean up before we head to lAmes.

NIU was favored in 12 of their games last year.
NIU lost 7 defensive starters, including 3 on the DL.

We should have been like MSU playing Boise State last year, and ran the ball 80%+ of the time.

NIU recruiting ranks the last 3 years:
2009 - 91
2010 - 114
2011 - 94
2012 - 100

Sorry, bad loss.

You can't say a loss to a MAC team is anything but bad. They are a good team for their level but that level is a huge drop from the BCS competition.

I'd rather us be playing Iowa State than Missouri State this weekend. I think Missouri State would beat Iowa State.

Sisters of the Poor would beat Iowa State, and then the following week, Iowa State would beat Iowa.
We've seen this scenario play out many times.

That point can't be emphasized enough.
Of course, we ran for 200+ yards against another MAC team (Central Michigan) and lost that game.
