Agreed, until Fran makes a mistake I will trust all of his actions.FM has worked way too hard already in his tenure to think he is going to make a bad choice or just skip over somone if its a player he wants and he feels can help his team.
I don't care why they aren't coming thats Fran's job and for the first time in quite a while I feel we have a BB coach that we don't have to constantly question his intelligence at every move.
I saw him play a few times, has a nice shot and is a good shooter.Sounds like former IC West star Jordan Stoermer has been invited by Fran to walk-on this year. I think he was playing at Kirkwood last year. If nothing else, another player for practice. Congrats to Jordan.

Wouldn't he have just 1 year?Sounds like former IC West star Jordan Stoermer has been invited by Fran to walk-on this year. I think he was playing at Kirkwood last year. If nothing else, another player for practice. Congrats to Jordan.
I have to believe that if Fran wanted Coco, he would be here, unless the grades are an issue as some have posted.
I should say I want to believe, we have no real evidence yet that he could get anyone he wants. I hope you are right, but right now all we have is hope. He has only brought one kid on board and he was a Sienna recruit and no matter what you may think, Sienna was not exactly a power house.
He's done this before. I think it's important for the Hawkeye fan base to give him the room and time to get it right.
The lack of signings is surprising and the only negative I can see for Fran. However it is a big negative and pretty much sticks out.
Who is it that he should have signed that he didn't get, to make it such a big negative?
Really any player (JUCO or highschool) that could have either provided back court depth or a scoring threat. There were a lot of those type of players unsigned when Fran started. There were multiple JUCO players from Iowa as well as other places. Also getting Brust to stay on board would have filled this need. I am not saying that any of these players would have put us in the post season but many would have made us more competitive. Now 2010-11 we are going to get destroyed (just like last year plus or minus 2 wins) thus making the 2011 class that much more important. He needs a big early signing period because once the season starts it is going to be that much tougher to get people on board.
I was really hoping for Fran to bring in a player in the late signing period like he did when he started at Sienna. It didn't happen probably because he wasn't as familiar with the recruiting landscape. I still have confidence that with the staff assembled they will be able to right the ship but for the short term we haven't been able to get much momentum going.
He was a soph at Kirkwood. Why wouldn't he have two years left?Wouldn't he have just 1 year?
However, for those down playing Sienna keep in mind that there last 4 years have been just as good as all but 4 Big Ten teams (Purdue, MSU, Wisc and OSU).
Add in the 7 yrs of struggles previous to that. Are you basing this off of W/L record?
I can assure that there were more than 4 teams who were better. I can also assure you that 99% of the people who actually watch college basketball would agree with me.
As for this recruiting mumbo jumbo and the overhype people are giving Franny, we still need to remember something:
Iowa is coming off the worst 3-year span in the 100+ year history of the program. In the HISTORY of the program.
We are not exactly a 'go to' school on the lists anymore as far as mens hoops is concerned.
