Hawkeye Season Snuffed in Evanston

Just a thought, but why doesn't Kirk go the route of an uptempo offense. This way they can get the play called in as quickly as possible so there is a legitimate chance that we're actually prepared to snap the ball before the play clock expires.

That certainly was a problem with KOK but you never saw QB's regress under him.
So stanzi and drew Tate had there best years when they were seniors? And I believe those 2 qb's were the only ones to play 3 seasons.McCann 1 banks 1 chandler 2 Tate 3 jake 1.25 stanzi 2.75 and now jvb 2.

When you are able to explain how a team can get better WITHOUT practicing, I'll be thrilled to hear it.

What team was better? 2007 Hawkeyes or 2008 Hawkeyes?

The thing that needs to happen is to get to next season and new players. Bowl prep will be about getting the current players reps. Getting these guys to the off-season will get them the strength and conditioning they need.

Because he can't handle the speed of the game now. Seriously.

Does anyone know if KF talks in the headphone in between critical plays.

Could he be junking up/slowing down the communication causing these DOG's?

This team could win two more games and go to a low bowl but unless this staff starts to recruit better talent the future is not very promising.

Here's how Iowa's hard-hitting sports media will tackle that:

Q: So Kirk, near the end of the game there, just wondering, on the time management...

Ferentz: That's football. We have some things to clean up.

Q: Right, so, do you feel like there might be an issue to address there...?

Ferentz: I'm not really following the question.

Q: Nevermind, that's ok. Can you sign this ball for my fat son?

You could have Will Muschamp calling the defense and Chip Kelly running the offense and 3 years from now it would be the same ********. It doesnt matter, as long as Ferentz is running the Iowa program, it will be like this.

Thats freakin hilarious.

We have already recruited better. Problem is all our good players are stuck behind walk on seniors. Next year might be like 08 when our good young players finally get to play because our crappy players all graduate. Of course if they could play over the crappy players this year, next year could be like 08 without the bad start.

That's my point, we've seen this movie before GD ever sniffed Iowa City. Now, it's not clear if today's problem was Vandy, or sideline coaches slow to get plays in, or GD slow to communicate down from the pressbox, or poor prep during the week, or all of the above. I hope some reporter will ask what the he** was going on out there, because that's the slowest-moving 2-minute offense I've seen in 36 years of watching football. And I'm not exaggerating.

Correct me if I am wrong....during a team's week of prep do they or do they not put together a scripted 1st drive based on the opponent's tendencies they find on game film? It seems that Iowa's opponents have no troubles scoring on their first possession but does Iowa do the same? Answer: No they do not. Our game planning/prep might be the worst in the B1G.

Jon, in your honest opinion....

Even though it's rumored that he isn't ready, do you think it is time to give Ruddock some meaningful snaps? Things aren't improving under JVB, the season looks to be over.

Should Iowa look to the future? It would be scary to think Iowa might start the season next year with a QB who has never taken a snap in a Big Ten game.

Ridiculous, even...

Personally, whether he's ready or not, I feel it's time to see what he can do, and get him some experience.

I've defended the decision to leave JVB in the game until now. 3 delay of game penalties at crucial times show that he, and the coaches are incompetent at managing the clock during a game.

Anyone remember how ticked off Drew Tate used to be when it took forever and a day to get the play called in? Today I understand that anger.

It took you this long to understand? :D

Tate got a bad rap at times, and I don't think he really deserved it. Those little tantrums like that had not nothing to do with being a bad teammate. He wanted to win and didn't want to settle for the crap like this. I'd take a Drew Tate in a heartbeat in just about any year, not just this one.

Yes, they were better as seniors.

Stanzi can't help that the defense couldn't hold a lead to save itself in 2010. Amd Tate can't help that he was throwing to Herb ******* Grigsby instead of Ed Hinkel and Cinton Solomon (he was also hurt in 2006).

The fact that variables outside of the quarterback's control held back the 2006 and 2010 teams doesn't mean the individual players got worse.
