I agree with this, he had a lot to do with Iowa's fall than what people want to believe.

There was a culture in Iowa City that turned toxic because Lickliter was over his head from day one. People blame Lickliter for a lot of things, but it was just a bad hire he inherited a mess. All people can point to is Alfords record because they think that is all that matters, it isn't, especially not at Iowa when your chances to win a NC come along only a few times in their history. Graduating kids and running a respectable program come first, then better players show up and stay. Look at the three coaches prior to Alford, not a lot of players coming and going during their tenures. Graduating and developing players, then get some pretty good players coming in, it takes time.
