Those are big loses no doubt, but I look more at what is coming back and the experience they are getting this season.
and yeah, I think Iowa's been pretty close this year. 2 OT losses and a last second throw. We also return 4 of 5 of our OL, Our Qb, all but 1 of our WR's, both TE's, 8 of 9 of our DL rotation, all our defensive back field. Our young RB's are getting worked into the mix. I am hopeful for next season. This is a down year, find a way to 6 wins and get the extra bowl practices.
This is just my opinion. You guys have yours and you're entitled to em. I reserve the right to get real upset next year, when I think there will be a lot of expectations on Iowa football.
Close this year? This is a down year, find a way to get to 6 wins? This is the 19th season of the longest tenured coach in FBS, and this is what we have? Pathetic. Should never happen at this point in his career. Next year will be worse. Our defense isn't good this year, and next year we lose all 3 linebackers. We have no receivers coming that are going to help an already terrible receiving group. We lose our one and only playmaker in Wadley. Next year we will lose to ISU in non con play as well. So no way next year will be better. Just because the players are a year older doesn't mean they will be any better. The ceiling is only so high with the lack of talent on this team. Its just not there, period.
