Has anyone cared about Iowa football since 2010? minus Beathard's perfect season?

Those are big loses no doubt, but I look more at what is coming back and the experience they are getting this season.

and yeah, I think Iowa's been pretty close this year. 2 OT losses and a last second throw. We also return 4 of 5 of our OL, Our Qb, all but 1 of our WR's, both TE's, 8 of 9 of our DL rotation, all our defensive back field. Our young RB's are getting worked into the mix. I am hopeful for next season. This is a down year, find a way to 6 wins and get the extra bowl practices.

This is just my opinion. You guys have yours and you're entitled to em. I reserve the right to get real upset next year, when I think there will be a lot of expectations on Iowa football.

Close this year? This is a down year, find a way to get to 6 wins? This is the 19th season of the longest tenured coach in FBS, and this is what we have? Pathetic. Should never happen at this point in his career. Next year will be worse. Our defense isn't good this year, and next year we lose all 3 linebackers. We have no receivers coming that are going to help an already terrible receiving group. We lose our one and only playmaker in Wadley. Next year we will lose to ISU in non con play as well. So no way next year will be better. Just because the players are a year older doesn't mean they will be any better. The ceiling is only so high with the lack of talent on this team. Its just not there, period.

Upset at the 'non-KF' portions of the team, no doubt.

No - I ultimately place most if not all the blame on him when things go wrong. Again, Iowa is 20-7 the last 2 seasons, with a 1st and 2nd place in the division. This year was expected to be a cycle up type of season with a new OC, a lot of questions marks on D and at WR and a new QB etc.... I don't expect great seasons every year. The last 2 years were great and solid.

Yes. Iowa has been very close this season. 6 wins means a young team gets 15 extra practices. A lot of programs have seasons like this. It doesn't matter if KF is in year 5, 30 or 19 - the chance that Iowa doesn't win double digit games is always going to be present. Next year will not be worse. Our defense is pretty good this year. Wadley is great, but pretty replaceable. Young and IKM have both flashed. Butler could take a medical RS possible. Iowa has always been good at LB. Next season we get ISU at Kinnick, who loses a lot and MAYBE even their HC. A year older for players in CFB is huge. Iowa has a lot of talent, it's bares out every NFL draft.

I am disappointed with this season - the coaching staff has not made the right adjustments, it's just not that shocking...they've played one of the tougher schedules in the country and are a young team.

we had one lucky year because of CJ and an easy schedule...

Iowa has sucked since 2010... look at the bowl games and the score

The Wisconsin fake punt is often recognized as the turning point of the program. But since we didn't know that at the time it happened, why would someone have quit caring at that exact moment? We were still in the midst of a potentially great season. Let alone we still had a chance to win that game.

If I were to make up a fake, hindsight time I quit caring, I would say when we took a knee to go to OT against OSU.

Everyone remembers the fake punt. What I can't forget is Wisconsin's last 2 scoring drives. They basically lined up and ran Iowa over. That to me is the turning point of the program. Iowa got beat a lot during the period of 2001-2009 but they rarely lost the physical fight and even less than that got pushed around on the LOS.

Since then Wisconsin has been the "tough" team in the B1G. The distinction Iowa had in 2002-2009.

Iowa has actually only "sucked" one of those years. That's why no one buys what you doomsday dudes sell. All the others they've been average or just above. There are worse things. U need more then luck to continually place in the top 10 in the country at a school like Iowa.

thats BS look at wisconsin...

The fake punt loss vs Wisconsin wasn't a watershed game because it was a loss...it was because BB, the staff and players were laughing at Iowa and KF...and rightly so. Iowa was duped...the coaches were made to look like clueless
buffoons...

Like the Stanford players laughing at Iowa when Iowa gave up 24 points in 5 minutes...

That is the dynamic...

Inept...spinning in circles of futility with little visible change or growth or development.

And..how...is the BF offense different than what we have been seeing?

And...how can we, after spending millions of dollars on coaching have zero threats at WR?

How the big money people tolerate this mess is beyond me...

haha, you absolutely out yourself as someone with a false agenda when you say Iowa has sucked since 2010. If you objectively look at it...Iowa has only 1 losing season in that time. Teams that .500 or above don't suck at football. They aren't great either, but they don't suck. Your opinion becomes invalid when you can't look at things for what they are.

I sort of agree with you. Talent is there and guys will be better next year, but it's still KF coaching and we have way too much evidence to this point in KFs tenure to think he'll all of a sudden start putting guys in the best position to make plays and win ball games. I'm sorry, but Kirk knows jack about offense. And until we make offense a priority and game planning based on the strengths of our current team, not 2002, we'll still be struggling against the bottom feeders of the conference. We'll get blown out against better, more athletic teams who will game plan to put their best guys in space against the Bo Bowers Iowa always puts on the field.

Iowa hasn't "sucked" since 2010 (ok, they did in 2012) but they've been pretty average, and pretty much completely irrelevant nationally. ZERO bowl wins since 2010, and only one season since '09 where they finished the year ranked (2015).

I'll give you 2015 as a terrific season, but I basically view that one as Iowa doing a great job against a manageable schedule. It never felt all that legit to me in terms of thinking Iowa was really ever a Top 5 team. They didn't play the big boys from the east. They had a sound win @NW that year, and the marquee victory on the schedule was the win in Madison that was more reminiscent of that 6-4 barn burner @PSU back in '04. Was Iowa a good team that year? Sure. Great? Not by half.

Iowa's program isn't the embarrassment some make it out to be, but 2002-04 were KF's glory days (and 08-09). That's looking pretty distant in the rear view mirror at this point. His best days are behind him, as a head coach, IMO.

what is my agenda? My only agenda is to voice my opinion...

can you please explain why we get blown out in all of our bowl games in the last 7 years?

Iowa's only chance of winning a game is if we stop the opponent from putting up more than 21 on us... 99% of the time we lose if they score more than that
