Had A Bad Feeling About This

If we’re being honest, it’s for the best for both of them.

Get that money before you risk a chance of injury, or possibly having one of your coaches develop apparent brain function issues. You know, like what happened this year.

They both could be great on Sunday next year. All these players also have to look at who the top two TEnds are on Nfl team now as to how good they are and how young they are. For example hard to unseat a Kelce but many teams may have openings for backup TEs

Good luck to both. Fant's special...but Hockenson on the right team is probably more valuable to that team in my opinion. He's just a great all around player..and can help the running game. Take the money and run guys.

I would love for both to stay another year but that's selfish fan talk. As you said, take that money and run. Both are great Hawkeyes.

Oh and if the Wisconsin OL is tuning in here, do what great Iowa underclassman do. Go pro early!

WI OL go pro early? They positively stunk this year

They're 4th in the nation in rushing offense this season even though they have played 2 QBs that wouldn't make most B1G scout teams. Everyone knows they're going to run and still can run. They made Iowa's DL look like a JV unit.

if I was a NFL GM, i'd do all i could to draft both of them. that's how big a threat they are together, in my mind and how stupid our staff has been not exploiting both of them ALL season long. but hey, that's just me.

?? Saw them against Michigan and others. Stunk vs the hype they got pre season man. I agree their stinking QB's probably had some to do with their underachievement.

Their OL is probably better than it was last year. They were 21st in rushing offense last year and 4th this season. They're rushing for 277 yards per game at over 6 yards per attempt (over a yard more per attempt than last season).

The difference between Wisconsin 2018 and 2017 is a much harder schedule and a D that can't dominate like it did last year. The OL is like it always is.

Both should have been on the field every play, every game. Someone should run the stats for the whole year when we had both on the field vs not. I looked at one game, PSU, and the difference was drastic (2 for 17 vs 16 for 32).

Fant barely played the 4th quarter against Wisconsin to, no 3rd downs, just 1 pass play. Ironically, he was in for every run play but people like to stick to this narrative he's a bad run blocker. Also, the Wisconsin game was before the Chris Fant tweet, so that had nothing to do with it. It's just purely a coaching blunder.

Not suprising they are have the conversation. But it is still early and they really should look at what teams are in need of a new TE.

I don't know if one or both will go, but I do know the coaches will make sure they have all the info they need to make the right decisions for themselves.

That said, both should stay. Take out the insurance and stay. Why, because I want them on the Hawks.

I think Fant will go but maybe not Hockenson. Fant is projected as high as #11 overall and the last time Iowa had a skill player on offense go that high was 1960. That's just off the top of my head so somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

You look at what has happened to Iowa players who come back for their senior year.....their draft stock went down.

Remember Wadley was picking up a lot of chatter after his junior year, and I think he wisely came back. He just never put on the weight to make an NFL squad. Talent is there.

Desmond King was talked as a first round pick, comes back, and drops to round 5.

If these two are graded out 3rd round or higher, they're both gone.

Plus, do they really want to come back to another 8-4 team?

Iowa has depth at TE and we haven't even seen much of who is behind them. They obviously are not these two but they may be formidable players for the team.

'23, if that is true about fant being in on all run plays and hardly any pass plays, that is just this side of criminal towards iowa fans.

2nd rd grade or higher quite frankly is a no brainer... 3rd round or so TJ might think about it but even then if you want to get that NFL clock started for reaching that 2nd contract and big bucks you go... We'd have a hell of a team if either or both came back next yr one would think but as KF likes to say 'that's football' if they were to both go

That's a myth that either of those guys dropped because they returned their senior year. Neither of them were gonna add an inch to their height, shave a tenth off their 40, or in Wadley's case, add 10 lbs of good weight by leaving a year early. Now, Fant and Hockensen will have the measurements to buck those trends, but that's a tired narrative.
