Agree, particularly if you use them while they're on your team.As I always say, it's nice to have players that are good enough to leave early.

If we’re being honest, it’s for the best for both of them.
Get that money before you risk a chance of injury, or possibly having one of your coaches develop apparent brain function issues. You know, like what happened this year.
I disagree. Wadley was never going to play Sunday’s, but King would have been drafted higher (and made more money) by leaving after his explosive junior year. He hurt himself by staying. Arguing that he would have fallen to the 5th round after his junior year is absurd and I won’t even humor that. It’s just bogus and we all know it.That's a myth that either of those guys dropped because they returned their senior year. Neither of them were gonna add an inch to their height, shave a tenth off their 40, or in Wadley's case, add 10 lbs of good weight to y leaving a year early. Now, Fant and Hockensen will have the measurements to buck those trends, but that's a tired narrative.
Yes. All they have to do is look no further than one of their own. CJ Fiedorowicz. If we’re being honest, it’s for the best for both of them.

It’s not typical to see it out of redshirt sophomores, even if they’re really good. And I think the rub in this case is that fans feel Kirk and Brian’s head scratching playcalling is driving some of it. If TJ were my kid I’d tell his ass that if he’s projected in rounds 1-3 where there’s guaranteed money he better put his moped and textbooks on Craigslist. Was there ever any question of this happening? Every player who is draft eligible and has a realistic shot of being drafted does this
The only wild card in all this is the honesty of the projections. Obviously they can't tell 150 kids that they will go rounds 1-3 because there's not enough draft picks to take all of them that high. It’s not typical to see it out of redshirt sophomores, even if they’re really good. I've said the same thing. It's all about the measurables. That's a myth that either of those guys dropped because they returned their senior year. How exactly did King hurt himself by staying? Because he wasn't targeted? He was just as effective when he was. Minkah Fitzpatrick was barely thrown at last season (he had 1 INT) and still won the Thorpe AND went number 11 in the following draft. Because he was a much better athlete than King.I disagree. His contract is $2,680,000 with only the signing bonus guaranteed ($280,000).
A first or second rounder gets 4 years or 2 years guaranteed respectively, and the average signing bonus of a first rounder last year was over $5 million which is double King’s entire (non-guaranteed) contract.
Here's to hoping Beyer is the athlete he's rumored to be... and they get him off the PR team.Guys going to the NFL in the top 3 rounds is good for Iowa any time. Regardless of what year they are in the program. I was afraid of this too, this is gonna crush Iowa’s TE crooting I bet
You make sense until you go full drama queen exaggeration mode.Of course they do, that’s silly. It happens every season all over the country. Anyone who can become an instant millionaire is going to explore that option. If they are going to be selected in the first 3 rounds or higher who can blame them? Fant was always going, TJ earned that right with his play this season. The coaches have helped both of these guys go from unknown and no where near the NFL to being able to consider leaving in 3 years of college. I bet they HATE and resent their coaches. That sounds so stupid. The fact is if they were used more, their draft stock would be even higher, so that makes no sense
They were wrong then and they were wrong after his Sr yr too... Dude is just a ball hawking football player. Just because he's not the tallest/longest or fastest. He's plenty fast enough...King didn’t get a top rd grade after his junior year, it was an easy decision to make.
