Guys, I'll be posting a JR/CJ comparison after every game . . .

does no one think that the OP is attempting to make a point?? :)

Yes, but I think his point is moot. Two different players with two different styles with two different coaches playing mostly different teams and on and on.

Plus, it's just not necessary. Why are still crapping on Rudock? The only way we should keep taking big old stinky dumps on him is if you have evidence that he was throwing games at any point during his time at Iowa. Don't have any? I didn't think so. Move on. We've got a new boyfriend in CJB, let's just keep telling him how pretty his game is and not keep bringing up the ex.

I think it's time to bury the whole Jake thing. What is past is past. He's where he wants to be and we're where we want to be. If you want to make a point direct it to the coaches who instructed Jake the same way they instructed Vandenberg his senior year.

I wish Jake the best, but bad karma to talk about him now. That was ancient history, just as all past seasons are. The old games are good memories (for lots of reasons, including time spent with family and good friends), but football is all about the here and now. I just hope CJB can stay healthy because if he does, I think he is going to have some fabulous games in the future for the Hawkeyes

That's not the point Imported is talking about. He's making the point that's it's silly or stupid to keep comparing the two in various threads. That's the point.

Thanks Melrose. That is certainly the point. What goes on on this board, and continues to go on - re jake threads - to me, is silly.

Rudock is dead to me, all I think about now is how we could have had 2-3 more wins last year with him on the bench. And before all of you Rudock lovers start in on me, I will concede that it was not his fault, he did the best that he could and so on and so on.

This is what continually irks me. All of the "lost" seasons with coach playing SR vs JR vs So instead of playing the actual deserving player. So it's not so much about Ruddock v Golden boy but rather; "what the h$%# were you thinking last yr KF"?

It causes major concern when the "uninformed" fan base has a much better grasp on personnel than our head coach. And this is not "oh everybody loves the backup QB" nonsense as we've seen the results played out on the field multiple times now (Banks, Stanzi, golden boy). If he can mess up the easiest of personnel decisions; what about all of the players we have no idea about on the bench? Who knows about these guys but I cant say I trust KF to make the correct decision, at least not until they are Seniors.

I am just waiting for the moment when Beathard stumbles so I can start a bunch of "I told you so...." threads.

And he probably will stumble, but the thing is he'd have to stumble quite a lot to make the loss of Rudock noteworthy. As it is right now, we'd be 1-2 if Jake was our QB instead of 3-0.

You aren't watching the practices. You haven't spent nearly two decades as a head coach at a B1G school. You don't see what the coaches see. And you most definitely can't possibly even pretend to know what the outcome would have been if X player was starting instead of Y player. Everybody needs to let the JR thing go and accept that we will never ever ever know how games would turn out given different circumstances. Unless you have a crystal ball. And if you have one of those, can I have it?

Is it possible to vaporize a thread? Boom.

Have a little compassion for a kid who was a highly ranked QB coming out of high school and thought highly enough of IOWA to give them his services. He had the best intentions and it didn't quite work out the way he and all the rest of us wanted it too.

Now as far as why he went to Michigan instead of staying at IOWA as the backup, I wouldn't pretend to know. If he went to futher his profession, to spurn IOWA, or for other reasons, it really doesn't matter. It's his life to live as he sees fit.

Thus far it appears that we have a better QB starting for us now. I am very happy to say that. I hope it only gets better from here on through CJ's senior year next season. GO HAWKS!!!!!!

I want that crystal ball for the stock market & betting on NFL games!

The only way this whole deal would have raised my eye brows is if JR would have been lighting it up in Michigan. So far he's played pretty much just like he did down the stretch of last year. He is who he's pretty much always been. Plus he's had to learn a new (even if it's similar it's different and with all different personel) in a short period of time as apposed to where he'd been at Iowa for 4 years. It's just not apples to apples. It's not like a video game where you just plug a player on a new team and away you go. CJ is a year further along he's had an entire off season of being the man going into the season. Because of his stronger arm and legs he's a totally different challenge for defenses to game plan for then what we were last year. I'm not a JR hater at all. I don't blame him for leaving. As much as I'd have liked to see him backup CJ this year. Honestly how many of us in his shoes wouldn't have done the same thing? So I hope he does well and has fun his last year of playing ball. It doesn't hurt or us one little bit if he does

I'll agree to your demand if you do me one favor. Answer the following question.

You've read those posts where people claim we would be 1-2 with JR, right? So using that mathematical model we would've had at least 2 more victories last year had CJ been the starter. Right?

A good troll doesn't push the narrative so hard. Back off a little and see if your post can gain momentum on it's own. If not, gently nudge it. If still nothing, abort mission. Wait a few days and start another thread.

In other words: you're doing it wrong.

Do we know which one is the better cook? I say we put them together for a reunion and have a cookoff and compare their food.
I don't have much interest making any other comparisons anymore
