Garza and Nunge next year

I can't wait to get these two 6'10" players on the floor. Garza is a beast down low and Nunge is a terrific all around player that can shoot the three. Both players shoot FT's at a very good percentage. Nunge is going to remind fans of Aaron White, only taller. Both average in the mid-20's this year and both rebound well. With the talent coming back next year we might be crazy good.

How tall is Nunge, he's listed at 6'9" on all his recruiting profiles

On his high school's basketball web site Nunge is listed as 6'11" and 220 pounds. On Garza's 247 profile, he's listed as 6'11" and 230 pounds. And, of note, Garza's coach is the son of Lefty Driesell.

Looking forward to them coming as well but a big or two may transfer because there won't be enough minutes to go around for all of them.

Good grief! Two kids who are not even out of high school yet and 56 and
Garvey have at least one of them transferring. Would you guys please stop
embarrassing yourselves...please.

Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. I think one current big transfers out, Garza is a contributor next year and Nunge redshirts.

Bohannon - 28
Moss - 24
Cook - 20
Baer - 20
Pemsl - 18
Wagner - 17
Uhl - 15
Ellingson - 15
Kreiner - 15
Nunge - 14
Garza - 14

That's 200 minutes a game with an 11 player rotation and the big guys all averaging at least 14 minutes a game. Williams and/or Dailey may play ahead of someone listed but that means they're a better player. This also doesn't account for injuries, etc.

I am not suggesting this is the rotation. I am not suggesting these are the exact minutes guys will play in a given game. I'm simply laying out a scenario where there's playing time to go around.

Wait 1 year and Uhl's 15 minutes are available. Wait another year and Wagner, Ellingson and Baer free up 52 minutes.

Edit - At some point it makes sense that at least a couple guys will transfer. But that's okay. It means they weren't going to play...more minutes for the rest of the players. And the guys that leave will hopefully find playing time at their new destination...no hard feelings here.

Who's the backup PG in the rotation?

That's a lot of minutes being given to post players.

I'm sorry but that's not a realistic college basketball rotation. And that's the point of what everyone is saying, cut one or two guys out of that mix and we are in good shape.

If they both play next year, they won't play much. Neither will anyone else with a 14 man rotation, but especially any of the bigs.

Here's my take:

JB - 30 min
Moss - 25 min
Baer - 25 min
Cook - 25 min
Garza - 20 min
Pemsl - 18 min
Wagner - 17 min
Brady - 15 min
Uhl - 15 min
Maishe - 10 min (or Williams)

Cut Kreiner from the mix, I'm basing that off the belief that Garza is better. Redshirt Nunge. Uhl plays primarily at the 3 where he makes us a better rebounding and defensive team. Brady and/or Maishe spell Bo at the point.

I like that teams length defensively, size to rebound, and think there's enough 3pt shooting to be a NCAA tournament team.

You don't think Connor will play? Our guards are going to be pretty weak next year with that roster unless Moss improves a lot

If Nunge is six foot eleven and 220 lbs. right now, I'd bet he plays next year. He is a shooter and shot blocker. Garza is supposedly gifted offensively too.

Yes. I've stated a couple times on this board that IMO CM will play baseball only at Iowa. Our guard play will be a question mark for sure.

If he's too good to not play that bodes well. Hard to see Fran cutting a senior Uhl from the rotation, though so I'm not sure where the minutes will come.
