Fran vs Hoiberg

Apparently the glaring difference in building philosophy has escaped your notice... perhaps it's
too subtle a nuance to be obvious to the casual observer.

What you see as recruiting superiority is nothing more than a preference for immediate gratification
vs long term sustainability. I much prefer Fran's philosophy of takng young players and developing them
in his style with his set of disciplines to the short term taste of sugar provided by transfers and jucos.

I don't think you can sustain a program long term with Fred's immediate gratification philosophy. Then again,
I don't think Fred has any intention of being at ISU long term.

So... no... I don't think Fred has out recruited Fran. I think both are getting exactly what they want.

Phew...well I'm relieved to know that we'll be well set up for the 2020-21 season better than ISU will be. I'll just sit back and wait. ISU probably won't even have a basketball team by then because the pool of JUCO's and transfers will have completely dried up by that time. I've felt for a while now like no basketball players will even go to JUCO's hoping to move on to D1 programs after this season and in 2 years time no basketball players will be transferring schools.

No not a long time Clones fan. never one. Didnt mean by make or break Fran was gone. Only meant that this becomes a key year if he is to get over the hump recruiting the kinds of players he needs to have for style of play. Which by the way I like. Im sorry but I dont think the 2 kids he recruited this year gets us there. Hopefull a great year will enable him to get to the next level of athlete. If not we will obviously not get there as a program.

I appologize if you think I was attempting to flame. I have been a longtime Iowa fan but I have always tried to stay somewhat objective. Anyone would be hard pressed to say that for the first part of their tenure Hoiberg hasn't out recruited Fran. We shall see what happens in the next 2 or 3 years. Hopefully will go our way but again I think the success this year will go a long ways in determining
Don't buy it. An Iowa fan that is trying to stay "somewhat objective" when discussing the Iowa coach, yet you gush over Fred and all of the reasons he was a great hire. Try again troll.

I still think there was more to the Amardi thing, because if they were forcing out anybody I don't know why it wouldn't be Edozie, nothing against the big fella.

As for that deal too, everybody thought it would hurt the Indian hills connection but then they got McKay a few months later. If it doesn't hurt in recruiting not much of a disincentive.
Maybe Edozie wasn't willing to go quietly into that good night? Maybe Fred knew he would have suffered some bad, public press with Edozie?

I'm happy to have cleared that up for you. I live to serve...
