Fran talks White - Uthoff

I haven't read everyone's comments, but this will be a huge positive for this year's team. Players tend to coast in practice when they can't be challenged by the guy across from them. I often would practice different things with my starting lineup against 7 players to make it more challenging. This will make both players better, but in the short term we will see the benefits as well.

No he doesn't. Why would anyone be jelly of charm when they have wins? This is what is really disturbing me over the spell Fran has put on you. Hok fans are starting to act like we have proven something on the court. I don't care if the players do, but geez. Do you think UW fans spend as much time running Ben Brust smack?

Just a little friendly smack talk to a nose in the air badger fan. You're reading a little too much into it. I have no idea what badger fans talk about on their boards nor do I care. I have no idea how successful Fran will ultimately be, but I do know that I like his personality and the way I see him interacting with his players and media....................Uh oh........I'm getting light headed......something is happening......the spell is taking me over..........weeeee'rrrrreeee baaaaaaaccccckkkkk!

I'm sure they don't. But there's also not a lot of Uthoff smack here, either. Fans talk about him, usually in a pretty casual way, and activebadger comes along and turns it into a ******* match because that's what troll douchers like him do.

Hearing about the matchups in practice makes me think this team has an edge about them which will serve them well once the games begin.

didn't read the whole thing, but when was the last time Iowa was this deep for a practice to see these matchups in practice;
6'1 Gesell vs 6'1 Clemmons
6'3 Ingram vs 6'3 Rickert
6'5 Oglesby vs 6'5 May
6'7 Marble vs 6'7 Stokes
6'7 Basabe vs 6'7 McCabe
6'9 White vs 6'10 Meyer
6'11 Olaseni vs 7'1 Woodbury
everyone of the scholarship players has someone their own size to compete against in practice and they all someone pushing them for minutes. so nobody can take it easy.
even in a exhibition Fran yanked the starters because they were getting lazy on defense and put in the 2nd 5. to me there are no 2nd stringers, just the 1st group and the 2nd group.. either group looks capable of starting.. I seem to recall another team referring to their backups as the Posse

He's convinced himself that Wiscy only lost a decent role guy and maybe he is. I just find it funny how they refuse to hear or acknowledge anything about Uthoff possibly being a special player.....lalalalala......can't hear you......lalalala

.

Not at all. I'm not saying Jarrod Uthoff won't be a good player. I never have used the term "solid role player", what I said is that I think he will be very good but he isn't guy the other team game plans around. He's not a Andre Woolridge, Jess Settles (healthy), BJ Armstrong, Robbie Hummel, type of player that the other team says "we've got to stop that guy." He's more like a Keaton Nankivil from Wisconsin in that he's really good, contributed a lot to our success but he was never going to be All Big Ten.

That's a big difference between saying "he's just a measly role player." That's not what I said. You guys have delusions of grandeur right now.

Wow you almost got in an entire post without being douchey

Call it what you want but when someone on your board says that Uthoff is the best player on your team right now, to me at least, that is delusional.

But that isn't as bad as the guy who said that Aaron White might not even start next year. That is truly out of touch with reality.

So, let me get this straight. A kid that has basically not seen the floor in a D1 game, yet, he's viewed by "people close to the basketball program" as being our best player?

Ok.

So let me get this straight. A guy that has basically never shown any positivity toward this Hawkeye program is attempting to convince us he's a Hawkeye fan?

Ok.

It would be equal to saying its possible that Basabe wouldn't start last year. Highly unlikely but that happened.

So they are playing 7 on 7 in practice??? You have a valid point herbs but the facts used to back up you're point are meh.. usually the case.

Uthoff may or may not be the best player on the team but I do believe that he has a very good chance at starting next year. I do believe that if he were eligible to play that we would be redshirting two players instead of just 1.

Possible lineup:
Pg - gesell
Sg - marble
Sf - white/uthoff
Pf - mccabe/white
C - woodbury

I like what jok will bring but he won't start as a frosh. Ogelsby would start before he would. Right now they are the same type of player...long range snipers.

What? The one who always feels the need to argue about Utoff is the Badger fan.

You would look like a tard coming over here bragging about getting Brust when most Iowa fans are thrilled hes not taking up a scholorship here.

Definitely like hearing things like this. Love the fact we have depth and love the fact that players will be pushing each other for quality playing time (even though Fran likes to play a lot of guys).
