And I'm sure you were calling for Fran's dismissal 7 days ago after we destroyed Maryland...Losing to Northwestern is unacceptable don't get me wrong, but this nonsense is exactly what happens after a couple of losses. Win against Rutgers and everyone will shutup until we lose again was my point. Go cry yourself to sleep over a basketball game.
Northwestern has had a lot of close losses against some pretty good teams. Iowa has some talent, but they aren't the most talented team in the conference. White made third team all conference as a sophomore and junior, but it remains to be seen if he will repeat this year. Uthoff might make one of the three teams, but I can't think of anyone else. Iowa needs an upgrade of more athletes which they should get next year. It would be interesting to see how they would be doing if it wasn't for that idiot Dakich making the comments about Woodbury that he did. Woodbury doesn't seem like the same player since the Maryland incident. Announcers should be terminated for berating players on national television. I'd like the University and the conference to stand up for their players. I haven't heard one word. The big ten network hasn't either.

Hopeless romantics is what we have become. Always hoping for the Prince Charming ( the next recruiting class) to come along and change everything. How can any of you possible be excited about a recruiting class that is ranked to the bottom of our conference??? May I suggest you go to the university hospital in Iowa City and get an MRI? I am not trying to mean here or insulting. By now most of you know that is not my personality. I am as angry at myself for being as guilty of this as any of you have been. Our recruiting has simply kicked out a$$es in both basketball and football. We all know that inorder to compete with lessor talent our coaching has got to be well above average and our players have to have an incredible level of HEART. Today the only player that showed and heart was Uthoff. One player can't carry a team. That's another incredible weakness to this team. Everyone needs to be on the same page as far as energy and heart and it's not happening.

Jon, What is going on with your website??? I tried to separate this post into several paragraphs and edited it twice in an attempt to do it. Also your site has been very slow during the live game threads. I don't have this on other websites.
This loss is all McCaffrey. Oglebsy had 1 good minute..1! Olaseni outplayed Woodbury but played half the minutes. In my opinion, Clemmons should have played more than Gesell today. Gesell has to lead the world in having three pointers made in his face.

It's on Fran for having a team full of guys that aren't that good.
there isn't that much of a difference between Jok and JO or Woody and Gabe one way or the other.
The only good player on this team that is clearly better than his backup is Uthoff.

He shouldn't have been at the line, his *** should've been on the bench. Those plays on the baseline should've been finished, but he's so ******* slow and weak getting to the hoop, NW had time to react to him and contest.

That is the frustrating part of Woody's game. He should have been on the FT line getting and 1's, not 2 shots, cause he couldn't finish. Since he can't play above the rim, this is what you are going to get though.

It's been 5 years now. Time to stop giving Fran a pass on the "he's better than Lickliter" excuse. Yes he is but anyone is. Is Fran better than what we had with Alford? Fran hasn't supported a criminal on the team (although he did get that JUCO kid who bolted) and he isn't the d-bag that Alford was...well at least up until this week I thought but seeing how he's acted and brought on unneeded negative attention to his program yet again, I'm beginning to question his character? Fran hasn't gotten to the actual tournament and has yet to do much in the BTT. At least we had excitement and confidence with Alford's teams during the BTT. We don't have any confidence with Fran's teams period. Not even his own players have confidence.

He honestly would've been better off taking that little 8-10 foot jumper on the catch instead of trying to attack the rim. He can hit that shot with much more consistency than attacking the rim.

I have been saying all year that if Fran can't make the NCAA this year, it is time to move on from him. That said, i think we need to step back from the ledge and wait til the end of the year. There is plenty of time to still make the NCAA, and if he does make it, I see no reason that he should be fired at that point. Losing to jNW is incredibly frustrating, and I knew there would be an epic meltdown if it happened (and deservedly so as jNW is a complete garbage team). There will be plenty of time to call for Fran's head if we get regulated to the NIT again.

The NW game was the dagger.......Mentally this team is so fragile I think their done as far as the NCAA tournament goes. I may want to suggest you get those "Fran has gotta go" post all prepped and ready to go.

HAHA....that is exactly why I thought we should wait til the end of the season. I had all my "Fran has got to go" stuff ready after the epic turd we laid in the Well against UNI. So there is still time to recover from this hot steaming pile of crap we saw on Sunday. Never fear though, I know exactly why I can't support a BB coach that only makes 1 NCAA tourney in 5 years if that so comes to happen.

Hell look what he did with James Winters by the time he was a senior. He was 6'4 playing in the post effectively. His senior year, Iowa wasn't very good, but his positioning in the post was due to coaching. He knew how to post up strong, go up strong and finish in traffic.

That's all we get under Gary Barta. He's the ultimate con man. A true carpet bagger. I've been on to his game since 2010. I wish bad things on him.
Y'all are overreacting. White went 1-12. I'm not going to go through the game logs for his entire career but I'm assuming that's the worst offensive performance of his career. He'll play much better the rest of the year.
These kinds of losses happen. Iowa State lost to Tech. Wisconsin lost to Rutgers. It happens. This loss doesn't change the fact that the remaining schedule is very easy and 4 wins is not out of the question. Win four games here and win a game in the B1G tourney and an NCAA bid is likely.
