Fran Lost me today!!

Ogelsby played 25 minutes. White played 40 despite shooting 1-12 from the floor. White did get 13 rebounds but it seems like all he wants to do is pad his free throw stats. Fran and Kirk subscribe to the everybody gets a participation award. Somebody should tell Fran that some teams strive to be good.

Playing Oglesby does not bother me, he made 2 in a row and was drawing a lot of attention. My issue is sticking with Woodbury, he blew 2 easy lay ups by trying to dunk it in and then missed all 4 free throws in OT. Olesani is more athletic and would have finished.

You lost me? Jok can create and is way more of a matchup problem adding way more stress to a defense than JO.

I agree on your comments about Gabe!

Our athletic department has turned into a dumpster fire. The new president needs to swiftly show Barta the door and bring in an AD with the balls to fire Ferentz and Fran. Just tired of the same old **** that doesn't work yet keeps getting tried.

Barta definitely IMO a needs to be shown the door. That is a fact.

Well, before the season started i predicted a 9th to 11th place BIG finish. Then i let the glimpse of success blind me yet again. Now its looking more and more like my pre-season prediction is coming true.

Fran talked a good talk when he came here and sounded pretty promising. He's had enough time now to show he really isn't anything special. You can't lose these type of games and expect to accomplish anything of significance.

For whatever reason there is a "meltdown atmosphere" associated with this program. I think the coach has something to do with that. Sure, the players were morons for fouling in those situations but it's a coach's job to teach his players not to be basketball morons.

Agree totally. It was the same thing under Alford, and now Fran. A team that is playing well going into a full blown meltdown, winning a big game or two and then following it with a disastrous loss (or multiples). We've seen it time and time again. They just can never play with any consistency and put it all together.

Then there was Lick, where Iowa just lost all the time.

It's gotten old.

What's Tom Davis up to these days?

He has utterly failed to capitalize on, and seize, momentum when numerous times have presented themselves...

3 years ago should have been an NCAA tourney bid, but a late, last second loss to Nebraska relegated us to the NIT.

Last year, we were flying high in the Top 10, and 2nd in the B1G, but Fran manufactured an unnecessary crisis out of a pathetic Twitter war involving McCabe and the resulting distraction derailed the season.

This year, following 2 big wins and sitting 2nd in the loss column in the B1G and one spot outside the Top 25, he took what should have been a "shoulder shrug" incident involving Woody's eye pokes and turned it into a war with an ESPN analyst, a d!ckhead move against a local reporter, and the resulting manufactured distraction has once again derailed another season.

Good coaches take advantage of opportunities that present themselves and do NOT manufacture distractions. Period.

Fran can take his act to some mid-major school where he belongs...cuz he certainly ain't ready for prime time...

We are now going to top out for the 3rd straight year of being a bubble team. The wins and losses are what they are but what bothers me is there is no emotion from this team. The players come out looking like they're going to a root canal and Fran looks like he's tired of coaching. I get the feeling after the BIG suspended him and Barta told him to back off Fran said he'd cash his paycheck until his contract runs out then he'll go back to a mid major. Same old excuses don't work when you use them all the time. I'll be interested to hear what he has to say after the games this week.

Hey Jack, what do you think of the game?
Hi Blue, not bad Atomic, but I think it's worse than cuckoo's nest!

absolutely no reason Woody stays on the floor at the end of reg and in OT, I still can't believe it. This team tanks 2 years in a row....

So there must be more than a grain of truth to the rumor that Woody was promised a starting spot in order to sign with Iowa.

And next year we get to look forward to 40 mins of The Crippler, per game. As we will have no back up Center.
C - Crippler
F - Uthoff
F - Uhl
G - Jok
G - Gesell.
Talk about a soft line up.

Part of me just thinks Fran doesn't know what to do with these weak minded players.

but on the other hand he recruited them and they don't seem to have been taught much in the way of skills and offensive strategy.

We have a bunch of weak minded players with poor fundamentals, making the same mistakes year after year.

its not looking good.

He does have a different type of player coming next year. To me that's his last chance to show he knows what he's doing.

I have little doubt he was promised to start and that has been the case. Today he was not good and needed to sit at the latter stages of the game.

When Woody continues to start and get so many minutes when Fran has more talent on the bench in the form of Gabe, it makes you wonder what sort of promises were made to get Mike and Woody to come to Iowa.

Well, actually it doesn't. I think we all can surmise the answer.

What will you guys think when the team struggles again next year and you won't have Sally Mason to kick around any more?

I am still holding out hope for this team to make the NCAA's, as the season certainly isn't over, and if they just finish ok even they can make it.

That said, this season just doesn't have the feel of a NCAA team at all. I have been saying all season long that if Fran doesn't make the NCAA this year he should be gone, and I stick to that. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but certainly whiffing on the NCAA's in year 5 with only 1 NCAA appearance to date isn't good enough.

On the bright side..Northwestern went into the Kohl Center last year and beat Wisconsin. Wisconsin made it to the Final Four. **** happens. We can still make the dance. Beat Rutgers and everyone will shut up about Fran. I'm not happy about these last 2 games at all..but there's still plenty of opportunity for Fran and this team over the next month. Go Hawks!
