Even if you want a coaching change, please don't stop watching

Why does everyone act like this game is a foregone conclusion? If anything is obvious at this point in the year its that Ferentz is in Harbaugh's head. He has already won the mental "game before the game". Its just the talking heads on ESPN who think Jim is some kind of great coach that gets the most out of his players.

I'm going to watch just to hear the announcers rip this Iowa program a new one. Herby doesn't hold back and I think if we see more conservative bs he will call us on it...assuming the game isn't over in the first 10 minutes and they decide to talk about anything but the game.

I'm never going to stop watching and will still schedule my day around the game.

Yes, it's like watching a bad accident at times but still can't help myself.

This made me laugh. What amazed me about the PSU game was the fact that our conservative nature did us absolutely no favors in keeping things close. Can't wait to see how we approach the Michigan game. Is it possible to be even more conservative to limit their scoring opportunities.

In this day and age of fast paced, high scoring offenses, bend, don't break, no longer works. In this day and age, shortening the game with the run game in combo with the bend, don't break, is a disaster. Last year, we averaged just over 30 points per game, if I recall correctly. That got us a lot of victories. I am not advocating a spread or read option offense...the pro set is fine. But, you cannot be totally predictable. This year, we have no passing game and a questionable rush game. Could be schemes, O and D. Could be coaching. Could be that we don't have very many good football players.

It's going to be a train wreck and I'll watch until it gets so embarrassing that I just can't watch.

I'll never stop watching or supporting black and gold. That said the success of an "elite" coach can be measured based on their area of expertise. Great coaches known for high powered offenses have explosive offenses. Great coaches known for great passing attacks have great QBs. Our coach is known for his Oline. Where does that leave us?

A true fan has allegiance to the University and the players. Sure we should support a coach but once he stops making progress then it's time to voice our opinions and push for change which is what we are all doing.

I'm extremely critical but I couldn't be more passionate about iowa if i tried, but you know what as a season ticket holder and one who donates over and beyond my ticket price I have literally paid for the right to bitch and complain all I want.

A true fan won't stop watching. I know I won't, I will watch every snap of every game.

You touch upon a good point. Watching is something a fan does. Now if you choose to with-hold donations . . . well that's a different discussion.

Agreed. While I hate to see it, I'd include attending too. I could never not watch an Iowa football/basketball game, but by not attending and or renewing season tickets - sometimes that's the loudest voice we have as fans to incite change.

I grow so tired of the "true fan" talk. In my opinion everyone on here is a fan regardless of where they stand. The only time the "true fan" argument gets brought up is when someone has a different opinion. We all support this program and want it to succeed. The differences lie in how we interpret success and the thought process we feel is needed to get to that level of success.

I'll watch for two reasons: A. I'm a glutton for Hawkeye punishment...B. This is going to be a historic beat down...maybe once in a life time. They may score more TD's in Kinnick in one night than Iowa has all season (maybe an exaggeration, but who knows ha!)

I pretty much agree. Over a number of decades I doubt few have been bigger fans than myself. That said, I'm not wasting my day watching a coach who at least appears like he doesn't care very much...at least enough to make a few changes in the game and get the players ready to play. I have other things in life.
