Eric May's Dunk

How sad that we have to hope for a 5th or 6th place finish in an 11 team conference. I know that would be a great improvment but just makes me shake my head and wonder what happened.

Honestly, a 5th or 6th finish next season would be a pretty awesome accomplishment for this team. It's going to be hard to finish ahead of MSU, OSU, Wisconsin and Purdue unless they have major defections to the NBA, but I think Iowa should be able to battle the other teams for a 5th or 6th place finish.

I loved May's flying thunderdunk, but when you consider talent and athletic ability, not to mention size, J. Lickliter's reverse layup was probably just as awesome. Say what you MAY, no pun intended, but the kid is not afraid to drive if he sees an opening. Cully has some nice finishes too.

Not to take anything away from the dunk that was unbelievable... but this is probably my favorite May moment

He could be playing football as well! he is PURE athlete and lickliter needs to recruit more of these guys! I just think its too late! I think Iowa sets the record for most losses in a season and Barta pulls the plug!

Don't count on it. Lick is Barta's first big hire, he's not going to can him after just 3 years. Next year is THE YEAR. I say that with a double meaning. I think it's THE YEAR where we make some seriously great strides (I'm predicting 15-20 wins and a possible NIT berth), but it's also the first year where we will be able to fairly judge Lickliter. And I think he will pass the test.

I'll start thinking about the up side on next years team once we know if there are any diffections. I do like the possibility for improvement next year over this year with no diffections. but if a couple of key guys leave next year could be worse then this year.

The staff has to make it a priority to get another athlete of May's caliber in 2011. I can't wait until Devon Archie joins the team next season because he is said to be freaky athletic also.

Along with big man, Cody Zeller, perhaps the staff can add a couple more Eric May type players.

Another thing the video shows, the weakest, ticky tackiest foul on the low block that you're ever going to see! Cougill must've breathed on him...

Not sure what your angle is, but go ahead and tell everyone what plays they did show, on an extremely busy day of sports...I also find it funny that you're apparently watching them out of spite?

I've always watched 13, and this little spat with Hassel and Lickliter isn't going to change that. I don't know, but for some reason I've never been able to stomach Channel 8. Except for The Big Bang Theory, that chick is hot.

Anyway, they ran a clip of May hitting a 3 and Payne driving the lane, but failed to show the best play of the day for Iowa, which was May's dunk. Considering that it was an 1100 game and the highlights ran at 10, they had plenty of time to put together a decent highlight package.

May's Dunk is awesome...than I watched the rest of the video and wondered what Cougill did to get a foul called on him

I'm sorry I can't help on the YouTube video part but it's great to see folks haven't forgotten about the game pics I've been posting. Now let's just hope there are more action photos on the way this Wednesday ending with a final shot of the scoreboard showing Iowa picking up their third Big Ten win.

I was really hoping that Gatens would give him a nice oop pass on the one break-away steal but also glad Matt just finished off the play with a sure 2pts at that point in the game.

According to Gary Dolphin on the pre-game, after the OSU game at CHA, Evan Turner "cornered" Eric May and told him to "keep working on your ball handling and you're going to be a star"...pretty nice praise from the league's best player.
not sure if Turner said that, but if he did, he is right on both counts!

He is Iowa's star, and he plays hard. This will benefit the program tremendously, rather than having the so-called "leaders" not really playing hard all the time...something Iowa has had to deal with in the recent past.

Yes, next year looks to be much better with the experience these players are gaining this year. However all this can change with a key transfer or two.
If transfers are forthcoming, then a coaching change is not only needed, but has to be demanded by the fans of the U of I!
No joke people, Iowa cannot build the type of program we desire if the players leave because of whatever the reason giving some other school the semi finished product(players).
