Wild stat line... Lucy was Lucy with her leading the way with 19 pts. But nobody else had double figures everyone else had 9 pts or less. Unreal how balanced they were. Everyone contributed. 25 assists and 11 threes made while shooting 55% from out there is gonna get ya a W every time.
Best part was the starters didn't have to play more then 23 mins. Hopefully that'll pay dividends tomorrow and as the rest of tourny goes on

That 1st quarter was a thing of beauty: 25-9. Dang.
It took awhile for this group to jell, but really impressed with how Coach Jensen has melded the veterans with the Fr this season. I've also REALLY liked her substitute patterns these last 11 games. Each player is not necessarily sharp or 'on' every game, and she's not afraid to sit somebody if they're doing more harm than good out there on the court.
The Hawks are gonna be fine from here on, as long as they don't run into a team that presses.
Can't quite figure out Fr Guyton: in her first college games this season she ran the offense AND shot the ball well. She's still shooting it well most of the time, but she's turned into a turnover machine -- often so speeded up she's out of control, makes bad passes -- stuff she wasn't doing earlier in the season. Odd.

We got a great preview what the team will look like next year with the 5 freshman playing major minutes together.
I thought I had watched enough games this year to know most of the olayers, but I honestly did not know there was a 5th freshman. She kinda looks like Alfouter from the back with similar body type and ponytail. But when she turned around and I saw her face and saw that she was #32 and not #3, I was like, who is that.

The announcers/experts are saying the Hawks are the most dangerous team in America
They are playing solid and loose, and hard to stop
They are playing with a lot of experience, four players have a ton of NCAA tournament
experience, Syd, Kylie, Hannah and Taylor, Final Four and Championship game experience
No other team in the Big Ten has a resume to match that
They have a strong chance to make the semifinals
They can handle the Spartans and Owe the Buckeyes who were lucky to win in Columbus
If they make it that far, they would play UCLA, I believe
They might be a bit worn down by then

That player is Callie Levin, who led Solon to a state title a year ago and was named the State of Iowa High School Player of the Year. She was never given a "star" ranking due to not playing in certain off-season leagues and tournaments, but she is a very talented, high-energy player. Tonight, she had 3 assists in a handful of minutes and would have had 4 but for a blown layup by the recipient of her perfect pass.
Callie volunteered to play on the men's scout team against the first team in practice which was unusual, but was appreciated by the coaching staff. My uneducated guess is #32 will play a lot of minutes next season and the rest of her career.
Another fluky stat. Iowa only shot 1 FT and missed it. It was on Syds and 1 in the first half. How many times has a team that scored 81 and won done that? I didn't think it was a poorly officiated game all things considered. They called one horrendous foul on Stuelke in the first half but besides that none really stick out.

Early in the season, it was the teams that put on the tough defensive pressure that gave us the most trouble. MSU was one of those teams.
We got better with it as the year wore on. That might be the key to the game tonight, how do we handle that pressure D?
