Eno Benjamin to Powerhouse Arizona State

Not shocked at all. Fabulous weather and probably the best looking females on any college campus. 18 year old kid's dream.

That was my first thought. If I had it over to do I might have went to a golf school down south like ASU for the exact same reasons.

Arizona State tends to have some of the best looking females of any college campus.
Just sayin'.
Plus, Scottsdale weather is quite nice year round.

--------I'd love to know what Eno experienced during his visit there.

Tempe is enough to do it....awesome experience.

I live in Tempe, can confirm all this. I ride my BMX down to the TempeTown Lake it never disappoints. It was a brisk 70 and overcast today(though the summers have sucked balls hot) Football is a dead thing at ASU as almost no one is from here so no true following. TG's lost all my respect when he bent at the pressure to switch to the Motorola headset from the boy band look, lost his Mojo

I had heard he also pulled the ever awesome hat switcharoo, throwing the Iowa hat off prior to picking ASU. Which is odd, as i dont believe playing Iowa was even an option for him..

Any confirmation on this? Or a link to him throwing the Iowa hat off? That would be pretty bad if true.

Don't you think that if we had Eno in the bag secure and he wasn't having second thoughts... he wouldn't have chosen to go to ASU, the school he took the fateful somewhat-secret visit to that started this whole saga anyway? I think this is kinda confirmation that he wasn't really all that committed to Iowa once other offers started to flow in.

In the little teaser before the commercial there was a pre-tape video of him with a quick shot of different hats on, one of which he had on was Iowa. But at the actual table he only had five hats and Iowa was not one of them on the table. He didn't do any fake outs, he just put on the ASU hat. Then ten minutes later he got hurt and didn't return to the game.

I don't, could have just been interwebs rumor mill. I had seen it posted by a few unrelated folks, but it could just be a rumor or way over exaggerated. If it is true, I just find it kinda funny, as he didn't really have an option to come here on scholarship. I'm sure he thought he was making some kind of statement. No harm done.

Bingo. I don't blame Eno for his decision on where to go, that'd be a tough call for anyone fortunate enough to have so many suitors. I also don't blame him for treating the situation like most teenagers, especially ones that are being coddled by so many.

He bluffed, was called on it, spun a yarn to save face. No harm, no foul. Good luck to him.

Except for it being a million degrees in the summer, but I'm sure that means you get to see more of those best looking females if ya know what I mean.

He didn't bluff. Kennedy fukked up his recruitment.

So, he decommitted then? Or did he have his offer pulled? Did he visit ASU without the blessing of the Iowa staff, or did he go and not mention it until asked?

The staff may have messed up, i'm not sure. But I do know he ended up going to the school that he visited after verbal to Iowa, and I don't believe that is coincidence.

I wish the kid well.

it's a dry heat though. Other than when it hits absurd temps, like 110+, it's not as bad as when it's 90+ with 80% humidity here.

I watched the hat thing and he did nothing to disrespect Iowa. They had the players commit right out of commercial break and before they went to commercial they play little "teasers" where the players say their name, High school etc and they usually had all the hats of the schools they were deciding between. Eno was playing with hats and for a second it showed him wearing a Hawk hat. When the actual decision came, Iowa didn't even have a hat on the table. He didn't mention his decommitment or anything disrespectful to Iowa at all. Any other news is exaggerated or false.

Thanks for some actual facts about this.

As for the people that think his commitment to ASU is proof that he would have flipped. I think that's kind of a hindsight prediction. ASU was the last secret visit he went on, but we also pulled his scholarship. Its impossible to go to a school that doesn't want you. If both schools were competing, there is a chance we still get him. Pulling the scholarship guarantees him going somewhere else. I tend to think that we could have held off against ASU due to our history of abusing running backs and the type of runner that he is (nothing special, but solid in every aspect). ASU has been a completely irrelevant program.

In the grand scheme he probably wouldn't have fit at Iowa, but I am still frustrated that we cant get higher rated recruits (who don't have a lineage through the university) to buy into this program.
