Don't look now but Middle Crap St down 29-20 at half

I've been watching the game and they are pretty bad. There's a reason they didn't beat anyone good in their "tough" non-conference schedule: they suck. Ten times worse offensively than Iowa.

It's really disappointing that their fine year has to come to an end. They should hold their heads up high though, they had many great accomplishments this season.

Espn headline said St Mary's proved they belong by winning. By beating MTSU? Huh?

They both belonged . They had tremendous seasons. And who the **** wanted to watch Kentucky and Iowa play that game? I love the little guys. It's a great story...

Who gives a **** how many wins MTSU had? They should have been a 5 seed in the NIT. They suck.

I seriously wasn't serious. I've been arguing since Saturday that these crap schools didn't earn a chance. Now hopefully Memphis kills St Fairys

MTSU is not the reason Iowa isn't going to the NCAA.

MTSU played the 6th hardest out of conference schedule in the country.
The Sun Belt is not a great conference, so they are moving up to Conference USA.

No, but it's an absolute joke that MTSU got an at-large pick when Iowa's resume was much better, and Iowa had about 4 or 5 teams ahead of them who also got left out.

Their schedule was garbage. Their schedule as a whole was 135th. Iowa's was 129. Iowa played 7 teams rated 200 or worse in the RPI. MTSU played 12 such games. Iowa played 16 games against teams ranked in the top 100. MTSU played 4.

MTSU never deserved a bid, and while their supporters will say one loss doesn't prove that, I'm thoroughly pleased that they didn't make it out of the "first round".

So, if Iowa would have been in a conference with Howard, Coppin State, SC State, etc. and had scheduled Indiana twice, Michigan, Ohio St, Wisconsin twice, MSU, etc. for non-conference games, they would have had the #1 non-conference SOS in the nation by far. Would that have gotten them to the tourney?

MTSU was schedule was 135, because they knew that the Sun Belt alone, would not help their RPI.
They had the 6th hardest schedule outside of conference,
No team with 28 wins has ever been denied an NCAA berth.

Most of the MTSU roster was seniors, and last year as juniors, they were one game away from playing in NYC in the NIT. So, this was a small factor, as well.

The NCAA continues to send a message about who you schedule, outside of your conference.
Most teams in the NIT had 20+ wins, but the schedule wasn't strong.
Virginia was 11-7 in the ACC. A .500 record in the ACC used to be a no-brainer for the NCAA Tournament.

Of course, the Mountain West and others have figured out how to game the RPI, by scheduling NAIA teams.

Great story? How?

Fringe-major team beats no one on the road, has 1 Top 100 RPI win and backs into the tourney after losing in their conf tournament. Yeah, hell of a story there.
