Don't count out Moss

He's a point guard whether you like it or not. He played wing because by the end of the year, Fran had to get him on the court.

I'll trust Fran on this one

“He’s a really good wing player,” McCaffery said. “That’s the tough thing with him, because we are working him in at the point and we do need him to play point moving forward."

Like I said, he's a point guard.

Since you trust Fran that means you believe me now that Williams is "really good"?

I trust Fran talking about him not being a natural PG because it's obvious he's not. If he was a natural 6'6 PG he wouldn't have had one big conference offer or he sucks and I don't think he sucks. Fran always oversells his players which is fine because I think he does it to give them more confidence but you have to read between the lines on some of these guys. I mean he said Fleming could play the point when it was obvious he couldn't.

Too late now. You said you trust Fran. I win. :)

I don't know if Fleming could play the point or not, but its pretty obvious Williams can because he is going to. Its hard to read between the lines when there are no lines, but just the simple fact that Williams is going to be a college point guard. There is a difference between college and the pros. Marble isn't playing the point guard position in the pros, but he did in college. I think Williams is going to be better than Marble. He might not be better than a senior Marble his sophomore year, but I think he will be better than a sophomore in college Marble.

I saw Liestikow from the Register put him and Ellingson together in the 9-10 spot behind Bohannon and he seems pretty dialed in to the basketball program. I was hoping he would be a starter this year so maybe it was just to motivate him or something

I think most of us can agree on these players coming off the bench: Jones, Baer, Moss, Bohannon, Ellingson (I'm really not sure about Pemsl and Kriener. One of them will RS, not sure which one.) I think it will depend on what Fran is trying to accomplish on who is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th off the bench. Jones at the 4, Baer is at the 3 and Bohannon at the pg. So, their coming off the bench before Moss or Ellingson wouldn't be a surprise and wouldn't tell me, anyway, that Bohannon is "more talented" than Moss or Ellingson. Rather, JB will come off the bench as a need since he's the only other pg on the team.

Moss' minutes will be limited, not because of his talents, but because he's playing the same position as arguably the best scorer in the conference. Ellingson will get even fewer minutes, but really needs to shine in those minutes.

Best shooter

Don't be surprised when you see Moss & Jok play together a lot.

Jok. You said scorer. I guess you said arguably as well. IMO big difference in best shooter and best scorer. Just a thought

Okay, I get what you're saying. Shooter and scoring often are completely different things. What I was saying is that with his shooting ability, he is arguably the best scoring player in the conference. If Jok can improve his handles so that he can start taking defenders off the dribble, then he will be able to get to the ft line and become a shooter and a scorer. This will be a critical season for Joks development.

I'd be surprised if Cook averages over 10 ppg it might even be considered a bonus to get 8 ppg out of the post... not saying it can't happen, I just think he's going to be asked to focus primarily on defense and rebounding. That alone is going to be challenge in the B1G. With that in mind, a lot of the good inside players of the B1G have moved on... Even Swanigan only avg 10.2 ppg.

It's not surprising of all the different lineups people have suggested. It should make for a very interesting year in Hawkeyeland.
