This is an issue of NIL dollars, not potential salary. The NIL funds can't (yet) come directly from the athletic department.

No, but they can push donors to donate to NIL instead of to the Athletic Department. I actually knew Barta on a personal level and he's a really nice guy. But he set the Athletic Department down about 25 notches nationally by not understanding and supporting this.

When you're Iowa, especially in this day and age, you can't fire a good coach in hopes to find someone better. You just have to count your blessings that you have a good coach.

Well as we all know, he's not a medical doctor. Dr Davis instead got his PHD in some obscure category, it was something like sports in colonial times. Maybe the website just thinks that is not worthy of being called doctor.

Iowa has the money but doesn’t want to invest it in MBB. In what world does Indiana have more money than Iowa’s athletic department? Football tips the scale to iowa and Iowa will continue to put their lions share into FB. But they have the money to invest. They have the money to buy a coach. They don’t have fan buy in and based off first swing and miss, sure doesn’t seem like they see getting a top coach is a priority either. That blows my mind because there is untapped revenue if it’s done right. I imagine Beth doesn’t have enough to sell. Being at the bottom in every metric that matters in attracting a coach likely means we need to tamp the enthusiasm.

Take the school that just beat us for the coach. Indiana MBB generates a B1G high 31 million and their ticket sales this season was over 15 million.

Iowa hasn’t generated more then 4 mil in ticket sales since 2005. Quick math, that’s a lot of zeros of potential revenue they flush down the drain every year. Beth needs to hit a home run to bring back the fans, so far the outlook is cloudy.

She needs to get Mcollum.

lol. Don’t blame Goetz? She cut ties with a coach who would have made the same seed as WVU and then gets snubbed by him. Fran shouldn’t have been fired in the first place. She wanted to try to make a big move to show she can make decisions. Kirk has been given the leniency for worse. Fran Deserved Better. He’s looking for a new school to turn around as we lose every player and recruit we had.
