My answer to this troll thread is yes. They are that good. Were they supposed to be? No, but that's why they play.
Now, your nitpicking:
ISU is a rivalry game, but if not for stupid mistakes that game could have been 40 - 17 or worse.
Wisconsin, only like 3 teams have won there in the past five years. That's a great win.
Pitt might win the ACC. They'll have to go through Clemson, but they're a good team, and that field goal was to win it in a tie game. The Hawks weren't behind, and it might have been the hardest-hitting college football game I've seen in years.
Northwestern beat Stanford at their house and gave up a pick six and a kickoff return to start the game against Michigan. They aren't built to come from behind, and that took the run game out of the equation.
North Texas sucks, but the third stringers were in there the entire 4th quarter. Had Iowa been Baylor, they could have scored 70.
Illinois State? Yep, an FCS team. Just like everyone else in the top ten has one off on their schedule.
Illinois is a decent team, but Iowa handled them, even beat up like they were.
This is not the 80's. There are fewer scholarships per team. There is more parity. The Big Ten might be the best conference inootball right now. I fully expect Pitt, Wisconsin, and NW to be in the top 25 to end the year. On the other side, Osu, MSU, and Mich. That's 7 of the top 25, and possibly 3 of the top ten at the end of the year. That's getting it done.
The question I have, is if the Hawks beat an undefeated defending NC Buckeye team in the BTCG, does the committee take two Big Ten teams?
The Pac-12 champ will have 1 loss. The SEC champ could be undefeated, but will probably have a loss. The Big 12 will have one possibly undefeated team, but probably not since all those top ten teams have to play each other. The ACC might have an undefeated team, but Clemson has a history of fading at the end of the year.
It's possible, though extremely unlikely, like the Hawks success this year.
Better start believing.
