DJK to put Hawkeye Helmet on one last time

No CG, everyone has not done what your friend DJK has done. He has forfeited his right to be treated as a member of the Iowa football team, and he can wear whatever helmet he wishes to wear, but it should not be furnished by the University of Iowa Athletic Department.

I wasn't saying that everyone has done what DJK has done... but everyone has made bad choices at some point in their lives. Not everyone makes the same mistakes, but everyone makes mistakes.

That may be true, but I guarantee if you made a mistake bad enough to be fired from your job, your former employer would not allow you to continue using their logo. No difference here.

It will be interesting to see how the football program handles DJK in future media guides. You obviously don't take him out of the record books, but when he makes an NFL roster, will he have his photo in the "Hawkeyes in the NFL" section of the media guide?

Given Iowa's history of promoting its famous non-alums (Tom Brokaw), I think he'll be listed.

Personally, it makes no difference to me. I hope DJK has a great NFL career.
Harmon's name remains and so will DJKs. The name in the history books isn't a real issue. Hawkeye consequences for him are temporary and immediate. As far as other consequences (NFL; legal; etc.) those are still pending.

Hey, when I think of DJK, I think of great Hawkeye football. I don't want a cloud of pot smoke to obfuscate my memories of how well he played on the field for Iowa for so many years. Let him wear the helmet.

There have been times this season where I too have questioned ACs desire in that in previous years, double team or not, he found a way to make an impact. I know he struggled with an injury this year but even prior to the injury it was clear at the end of games that AC and the rest of our defense didn't have the endurance to make plays at the ends of games when we needed them to step up. But I don't think it's a questions of ACs heart or his motivation. If you question ACs devotion watch the following video.

He got hurt against Wisconsin. The only loss prior to that game was Arizona, so there wasn't exactly a lot of examples of the defense being worn down, because we were 5-2 after the Wisky game. He was playing hurt in 4 of our 5 losses (including the end of the Wisky game).

What does Harmon have to do with this?!

Do you not know about Harmon and his final bowl game? Look up the history of him. It was just as bad as what DJK did. We are bitter at DJK but ultimately he will be remembered more for the good he did than the bad way it ended. Just like Harmon being considered one of the best players ever at IA.

Blame KOK and the offense for the defense being tired at the end of the game.

Well, put down the bong, then! :D

I'm ok with DJK wearing it IF the University approves. Whether the U has a legal right to block this is unclear, but the game organizers do, and I believe they'd honor the University's request.

I hate to tell you this, but if Joey Butta****o wants to wear a Hawkeye helmet to a grabass game he can.

I might even wear mine out to check the mail while wearing my Hawkeye boxers... you all have objections? You think the University of Iowa can stop me?

I am glad to hear of him having a shot to do something positive. I am also glad that he has not lost his passion for Hawkeye Football even though he was dismissed from the team.

Nobody wins here... nobody is completely right. But forgiveness is a wonderful thing. I know how many times I have needed forgiveness and never got it... so I wish him well, I hope he does well in the game, and to me he will always be a Hawkeye.
