DJK to put Hawkeye Helmet on one last time

if Montel Marion is allowed to come back on the wrasslin team, I see no issue at all with Derrell wearing an Iowa helmet.

if they didnt allow Iowa football players who've used drugs to wear Iowa helmets in all star games, there'd be a couple more guys looking for a helmet this year.

who else is going to be playing in an all-star game after being dismissed from the team?

Like I said, I reacted badly to your original personal insult. I'm going to try not to get into a back in forth with you over this.

Your opinions are obviously facts and my are just poor opinions.

Your mad because your post was one of the worst i have seen? I think you might want to look up what 'personal insult' means.

Actually your first response to me would fall under 'personal insult'....just so we are clear calling someone a ****** sorta falls under that criteria.

It is clear you think AC quit and in your mind that is just as bad as what DJK did.

Do you think representing the program in a positive way is putting himself in a spotlight (wearing Iowa gear in an 'all-star' game) to have the media comment about Iowa's all-time leading receiver was living with a drug dealer and consuming his goods? I think if he wants to contribute to Iowa in a positive way he'd do just the opposite.

Yeah, i frankly cannot imagine Iowa allowing him to wear the helmet. It certainly will not put the program in a positive light.

It will be interesting to see how the football program handles DJK in future media guides. You obviously don't take him out of the record books, but when he makes an NFL roster, will he have his photo in the "Hawkeyes in the NFL" section of the media guide?

Given Iowa's history of promoting its famous non-alums (Tom Brokaw), I think he'll be listed.

Personally, it makes no difference to me. I hope DJK has a great NFL career.

You think that him NOT wearing the logo on his helmet would prevent that? The only way that stuff doesn't get commented on is if he doesn't play at all. And we have no right to ask that of him.

"BTW, per Iowa, Derrell doesn't have an official Iowa helmet issued through the Iowa football program"

The above is per Marc Moorehoose on twitter today.

Just so we're clear here:

You called my post the worst you've ever seen here. That's a personal insult. Period. Never, not once have I insulted someone's post, not matter how crazy. I've countered and argued but never insulted.

I returned the favor by calling you a ******. Insult for insult. No problem.

However, I got ****** and used a word I shouldn't have. That why I apologized. Personal attacks are childish and I am guilty here.

I see by you last few posts that you're not done. So be it. You're not the first mod to throw out personal insults here.

Are you embarrassed that you are insulted by something you read on a message board? If not, you should be.

Dear God man, is it really that hard to understand. Calling someone's post bad, no matter what language used, is NOT a personal insult. Here is the difference....

You are an absolute moron.
You're post was moronic.

Now, while both may be true, only one is a personal insult. If you can't figure out which is which I suggest you get a smart phone.

I have no problem with it, I hope he gets to wear the helmet again. He made some stupid mistakes off-the-field, but he was one of the greatest WRs ever at the University of Iowa.

I'm glad he gets to end his career as a Hawkeye on a positive note. DJK made a mistake, it doesn't mean he is a terrible person. He's one of the greats and provided some fond memories. Kudos to him.

Fail, once again.

No doubt he was one of the best, if not the best WR in the history of Iowa football.

I doubt they'd be asking him for anything, unless he had University property.

You seem to be missing the point. Whether or not he wears the logo is irrelevant. His pressence will be enough to incur the comments about his off-field issues. The logo won't draw more attention to that fact. And I doubt that the announcers will forget to mention that he played for Iowa at least 10 times, even with a blank helmet. So the logo shouldn't be an issue in that regard. I say let him wear it. The only way the off-field issues don't get a mention is if DJK isn't playing.

I still support DJK. He is still a Hawkeye and always will be. He made some bad choices... just like everyone else has. I guarantee there is people playing in that game that have done things just as bad (if not worse) that didn't get caught or were caught and not punished.

He is a Hawkeye... I hope he does wear the Iowa helmet.
