DJK to put Hawkeye Helmet on one last time

Let's face facts here. DJK was a Hawkeye, is a Hawkeye, always will be a Hawkeye. Whether we all like it or not. No problem with him wearing the helmet at the game.

Do you say the same about Everson? Satterfield? Robinson? Etc., etc., etc. (whole lotta etc's can be added to the list)

The guy was dismissed from the team, gave our program a huge black eye in the national media and yet it would be cool to see him in a game sporting Hawkeye gear and having the announcers talk about how he was dismissed for having a drug house? Yeah, that is just great.

My biggest fear is that given the guy is clearly addicted to the reefers, what happens if he just decides to light up the reefers during the game while on camera?

IMO there's a BIG difference between being accused of rape and getting messed up with drugs.

I don't really care if DJK wears an Iowa helmet.

To the people who are against him wearing it, are you against Clayborn wearing his at all-star games?

Say what you want about DJK, but it's clear he didn't "lose his will to win" like AC.
So you obviously missed the chopblock against Wisconsin? He was playing hurt from that play on. Pay better attention or shut your piehole!

It happened. Preventing him from wearing the helmet at the game would be more of a story that just allowing him to. And yeah, they played for the Hawkeyes and will continue to be associated with the program. Just like Dominique Douglas, James Cleveland, Arvell Nelson, et al. Just because they screwed up doesn't mean they get wiped out of the memory banks. Same thing with Lawrence Phillips and Thunder Collins in Nebraska. Shoot, even Reggie Bush (who actually had his name partially removed from the record books in SC) will always be remembered as a Trojan. Like I said, like it or not, DJK is a Hawkeye. Our all-time leading receiver to boot.

Roy Marble's not a Hawkeye, either

For the rest of you guys who are so tough.

All I did was ask a question.

For me a guy who quit isn't much better than a guy who got arrested. I don't really care about either one representing the team. And if you watch the Minnesota & Missouri games, AC quit.

The almighty Jon even mentioned it in is Insight Bowl chat.

You're joking right? Did you see the play where Hyde intercepted it which won the game?? He caused the interception that won the game!

Actually Gabbert could have run right by Clayborn, everyone else was.

Its funny, if AC would get himself in trouble again, you guys would turn on him just like you did with DJK. He was a f'ing hero around here up until the day before the news broke. Jon even wrote an article defending him a bit.
All the talk was how KF wasn't using his talents. Now he's a POS because he got arrested.

Yet, as long as they play for Iowa, they do no wrong. When they get booted, they were a POS all along. If AC got arrested, all you'd here is "that guy quit on the team," "he must have been tired from running so he stopped."

Some people need to wake up. Iowa has players who played great this year, others who played like crap and/or didn't care. Iowa has players that are good people, they have players that are one step from the steel bar hotel.

I'm not blinded because they play for Iowa. I've called a player out here and insulted a moderator which is something I don't do.

But its gets old watching people bag on DJK when others have quit on the team and some members of the team are flat out not nice people but because they are on the team, people stick their head in the sand.

Dude, your calling out an All-American for a bad year? Get a clue, and most of the people in this thread have been pro DJK wearing the helmet.

No I'm not, having a bad year is undertandable. It happens all the time in the NFL. One great year doesn't mean the next will be as good or better.

I don't think some players on the team were putting Iowa on their priority list at #1. Getting beat is one thing. Not being in the game or asking out of the game because you want out or can't go anymore is another. That's not being ready. If you're not ready, that's pretty much a sign that you don't want something all that much.

Not being able to go 100% because of an injury that you've been gutting out is not the same as turning it on auto-pilot.

Facts seem to be getting in the way of his thought process. I suspect none of us will change his mind.

You continue to have absolutely zero clue what you are talking about.

I am enjoying this so please keep it up, good stuff!

if Montel Marion is allowed to come back on the wrasslin team, I see no issue at all with Derrell wearing an Iowa helmet.

if they didnt allow Iowa football players who've used drugs to wear Iowa helmets in all star games, there'd be a couple more guys looking for a helmet this year.
It's clear drugs have damaged your mind. The issue with Kirk's players being kicked off the team has more to do with kids disobeying their coach. If Kirk told them not to drink apple juice - then that's the law that matters. All these kids get a lecture as true freshmen what the consequences are if they consume illegal drugs.

Some jobless posters are waayyyyyy to focused on their N.O.R.M.A.L. political stump speeches to see the larger picture. DOING THINGS THE COACH TELLS YOU NOT TO DO RESULTS IN BAD CONSEQUENCES. It's NOT rocket surgery - it's so easy to understand my 7 yr old cousin understands what is required of these athletes.

The people who keep trying to intimate that asking the players not to smoke marijuana is unreasonable, are themselves incapable of thinking and acting like a responsible adult.

Obviously, I have much different opinions on some things than most and that wouldn't be the first time.

I got a little heated because a mod took a personal shot at me and I find that a bit odd considering what is preached here by mods.

I not much for arguing and you're not going to convince me that there are some guys on the team that didn't pack it in early and weren't ready to play.

I know I'm not going to convince anyone that my opinions are right so there is little need for me to continue.

I apologize if I offended anyone on this thread. I reacted badly to a mod comment and should have stepped away from the computer.

I'm fine with it. Has he screwed things up for himself? Absolutely. That doesn't mean he can't represent the program in a positive way.

Do you think representing the program in a positive way is putting himself in a spotlight (wearing Iowa gear in an 'all-star' game) to have the media comment about Iowa's all-time leading receiver was living with a drug dealer and consuming his goods? I think if he wants to contribute to Iowa in a positive way he'd do just the opposite.

Like I said, I reacted badly to your original personal insult. I'm going to try not to get into a back in forth with you over this.

Your opinions are obviously facts and my are just poor opinions.
