What channels can you get on DirecTV that you wouldn’t be able to get on YT TV or Hulu Live?
Honest question. DirecTV and Dish Network do give you hundreds of channels, but 95% of them are PPV, music channels, duplicates, or really stupid shit that no one would ever watch.
With Hulu Live you get a great selection of channels and you can also watch almost any televised college football game on any network. The only sports channel it doesn’t have is PAC-12.
$45 a month, no contract, no sales tax, no surcharges, no equipment rental, no equipment rental sales tax, no installation fees, no cancellation or removal fees, no weather F ups, no gaudy dish hanging off your house like a modern version of a rotary phone,

The wife watches Hallmark & Lifetime quite a bit, but has told me she is willing to go without if it means saving a few bucks a month. I would miss AXS a lot because it has a lot of behind-the-scenes material about music artists and their albums & hit songs. etc. Lastly, the kids enjoy watching Nick Jr. I don't think they'd miss it if they never saw it before, but they would go crazy if we told them they'll never see Paw Patrol or Blaze and the Monster Machines again.
I agree that many of the "hundreds of channels" are extra BS channels. Although, I think saying they occupy 95% of the lineup is a big stretch. I have taken the time to go through our channel lineup and remove the unwanted ones. This way, the guide isn't cluttered with channels we don't care about which makes the content we are looking for much easier to find. Most people don't do this and it annoys the hell out of me when I visit their house and find myself looking for something to watch.
The thing that holds the most value to me is that all the content and channels are easy to access with DirecTV/Dish/cable. I don't need a smart TV (although we have two smart TVs), smartphone, or computer to access it. I just turn on the TV and within a couple seconds it's all right there without using any internet bandwidth to get it. I don't care about being able to access content anywhere, because if I'm not in front of the TV, I'm probably doing something that requires my attention more than the TV anyways.
I think the barebones Roku interface (and minimalist remote) is a bit cumbersome because literally everything is buried in a menu. Accessing any kind of content in Roku requires waiting for an app to load and navigating a minimum of 2 menu levels deep after that. If I already feel this way about Roku, I'm thinking I would hate using Hulu Live/YouTube TV because it's adding more of the same to the viewing process.

$40/month on DirecTV....LOLOLOLOLOL. If you want all the sports channels that Youtube TV offers, plus you want 3 TV locations your first 12 months you will be about $90+ a month, and that jumps to $130+ for months 13-24.

They start at $59 a month, that is 1 TV location, and no sports channels to speak of what so ever. To get everything Youtube TV has, you have to go to the choice package which is $69 a month, add in 2 more TV location at he is at $85 a month, add in taxes and fees, and you are over $90 a month. Keep in mind this the first year discounted rate and figure that months 13-24 you will be paying now $130+ and that is what you are at to comparable YTTV channels. So all in for two years you are at $2,640 for DirecTV, to get what YTTV offers. My youtube tv bill every month is $52.99 that includes taxes and everything, so my 2 year total is $1,271.76.
I have looked at this a million ways before I ever went to streaming. I didn't WANT to leave DISH/Directv, they FORCED me to leave them. Honestly I couldn't be happier now. I feel like I am getting a fair deal for what I am getting, and don't feel like I am getting prison raped every time my satellite bill comes.

I don't think so. Directv NOW just bumped their smallest package up to $50 a month, and if you want ESPN news, ESPN U and FS2 like you do on YoutubeTV, then you need to go to the $70 a month option with them.

These are big for me and why I went with Sling, but without BTN, I'm ditching Sling next week and going with YouTube and adding Noggin on for like $8 a month or whatever. Then after football is over I'll go back to Sling. My son will probably slash my throat in my sleep if he can't watch Blaze.

People throw a lot of shade at Comcast, but I have had Comcast and AT&T and I gotta say, Comcast was better other than their bandwidth issues caused by being in a densely populated area. Comcast had a streaming service that came with the standard cable TV package that let you stream all of your channels anywhere. AT&T had one and then got rid of it and then lied to me saying they were "fine tuning" it to get me to stay long enough for my year contract to kick in (I had a one month cancellation period). Then, it turned out that to get streaming, you had to separately buy their streaming package. That company seriously has their heads so far up their asses I think they can see their molars.

Also, ESPN just adds their "ESPN Extra" channels during college football/basketball, so there really aren't any FBS games you cant watch and most televised FCS as well. Same thing with BTN, if there is more than one game on the network they just add an extra channel to the guide so you can watch either one. For sports fans I don't see anything out there for the money ($44.99) that even comes remotely close.

You know. I procrastinated to initially as well. Always sounds like such a pain in the azz. But in reality, it went really smooth and I ended up thinking why the Sam hell didn't I do this a year ago.
I tried the trial period and it just rolled into me paying them monthly. I also have absolutely no equipment to deal with or a closet full of cords in my way. Absolutely love that. Also, I don't drop signal in the rain. The picture is great, it's reliable and the lag time for streaming doesn't bother me a bit. I don't even notice.

Well, I said $50/month, and that's what I pay. I'm pretty sure I know my bill better than you do. I had cancelled DirecTV for a while and they sent me an offer where my bill would be $49.99 for 12 months and I got a $300 gift card. Yes, it goes up to $69.99 the second 12 months, but it's worth it for the ease of use and knowing I can watch pretty much every Cubs game. I also like to rent movies occasionally and they have the newest releases. None of the streaming services have that.

I've changed and now kind of viewing my TV package like my grills. Downsize and simplicity. They we can offer you 200 channels does nothing for me and I haven't bought in to that selling point for years now. Just more shittin bad channels to weed thru, IMO.
People buy way too big of grills. They are more inefficient as well.

Amen, brother. You can drop a grand on a Traeger and yeah, it'll be easy, but then that day you have $150 of meat sitting on it and you have to run to the store and you get home and the sumnabitching auger stopped turning or whatever and your meat is sitting on an 86 degree grill, you will wish that you were just cooking on charcoal, the way God intended.

I gotta say you are getting a deal that nobody else is. Their lowest advertised package price is $59.99. That gets you 1 receiver and hardly any of the sports channels. As far as what Directv advertises you have to have the $69.99 package to get the same sports channels as YTTV, and once again you are stuck with only 1 receiver. The price jumps to $110 after the first year.
That is all spelled out black and white on their website. If they are giving one person (you it seems) a way, way, way better deal than that, then kudos for you, I would have taken that deal as well. Yet once again it shows why I hate Directv so much now, is they treat all their customers completely different. So get good deals, most don't and it is all based on the whims of a supervisor. I'll take a guaranteed $52.99 all day everyday where it would cost $110 to get the same sports channels at normal price from Directv.

Still successfully smoking ribs and pork butt on the same Weber kettle that my mom and dad bought in the early 80s. It went from NW Iowa to AZ, back to NW Iowa, a short stint in MN, and now faithfully sitting outside my back steps.
If my folks paid say, $75 for it 35 years ago that's about 18 cents a month and no signs of wearing out. It's got hail dents and another big dent where I dropped a roofing nailer on it. Wouldn't trade it even over for a brand new pellet grill.
