Did anyone listen to Iowa State's News Conference today?

You claim you are an Iowa fan, but you sure seem to be on the side of isu.
Lol. In other words. In order to be an “iowa fan”, you have to defend every action and everything from every coach, player and fan regardless. No thanks. I’m well known around these boards as a ferentz basher. I want nothing more than for him to retire and take his hothead son with him. But I’ve followed iowa sports for 60 years. Taking another side simply means you are an adult with mature thought processes and can think for yourself rationally without the media or others influencing you. Don’t worry, you’ll get there someday.

LOL, you missed the mark by a country mile as usual.

I haven’t read where he has repeated ISU talking points.

As far as I’m concerned, this is an assault. The police should be involved in the investigation; not the universities.

The universities should be finding answers for safety moving forward.

This whole thing is a cluster F!
On one hand if a female student on an Iowa City campus was sexually assaulted we would have inspector Gary and Bruce Clueso investigating.
On the other hand the same incedent were to happen in Ames you would have Jamie Holmes investigating and blaming the female victim for asking for it because she wore a tight pair of jeans.

This Iowans are the best we have to offer???

All I know is before I read that link I thought ISU fans were ridiculous for defending their team to the bitter end. Just like Penn State fans and just like Michigan State fans. I thought how hard is it to say "yes some fans were complete idiots and they should get in trouble". But now the Iowa fans appear to be doing the same thing here. Of course it was wrong to push someone and it sure the F was wrong to grope someone. But I do care a little but about why it happened. Bill Burr said it best in his bit about hitting woman. Why it happens doesn't matter enough to make it ok, but it does matter a little. That's all I was saying. If the band was provoking, it was pretty stupid and makes the whole deal a little less shocking. Is that so hard to admit? Or is all people are reading is "he says they provoked so he thinks its 100% ok".

To an extent, yes. But more along the lines of don't poke the bear. If the story is true. If the iowa band was fighting their way through an ISU crowd, while playing songs, they were more than likely instigating. If I walk through an ISU crowd and dont say a word, then get punched, its 100% their fault. If I walk through an ISU crowd and talk shit the whole time until someone finally punches me, is it still 100% their fault? I say no.

Again, this is all based on if the story is true. They are painting a picture that the band was doing things to piss off the crowd. If true, whoever's idea it was to do that needs to be talked to.
I highly doubt the Iowa band was instigating anything. Also doubt they were throwing full beer cans at ISU fans while they played and marched.
"fighting their way through a crowd' ? It's a band - bands don't fight, they play - drunken a$$h0les fight and throw things.
They were playing music...which is what all bands do.
99.9% of the time at literally any football stadium in America, the crowd hears the band coming, the crowd turns to face the band while giving them the right of way to march by and enjoys the atmosphere of college FB. They might even clap.
Unless you're in Ames of course. Guarantee you all college band director's going forward will give it some extra thought before traveling with their band to Ames.

It's possible they weren't. And if they weren't, it changes everything I said. Like I've said already, IF it's true, they share some form of blame.

If the Iowa band was marching through an ISU crowd like the story suggests, of course something bad is going to happen. If it truly happened like that, the band deserved some of the blame for provoking.

How Politically Correct of you, PC.

I only need one sentence to call you out as a fraud...you write an entire novel just to prove it.

You are such a troll. A girl flirts with and kisses a boy and gets raped and she said at part to blame? If they did it changes nothing except in your mind.

Some on here like your outlandishness. I think you very crossed the line.

I do wish the ISU fan trashing would stop. This is about inadequate protections and policy to keep as many fans coming and not wanting to spend money and effort. The fans that did that are trash, but ISU fans in general are just like Hawk fans.

You really want to think Barta et Al are any better? No. Money drives things. Assault and battery occured that could have been much worse. The perps need to be found and ISU held accountable for inadequate policy and Barta et al held responsible for being stupid in related comments but also not ensuring the band was going into an adequately protected environment. These people get paid way too much for incompetence.

It just seems to me that this football series needs to take a break. I can't believe how emotional Pollard is about it. What a complete tool he is. The two fan bases need some time off. Next time somebody may get killed.....it is not worth it.

Just take a two year break and then try to resume it. I'm sure the Iowa fans are just as bad when Iowa State goes to Kinnick. This is simply not a healthy situation anymore.

If I'm the Iowa band, I never step foot in Trice again. Why take the risk? The person with broken ribs easily could have been killed.

I would also like to emphasize that I had a son in the Iowa band and I have a nephew now in the Iowa State band. Both of those bands have terrific, talented kids, many of them teenagers. The Iowa State band is one of the best in the country.

These are children. To assault a child in a band or yell something derogatory is just incomprehensible to me. Unbelievable.

I just saw video footage from monitoring cameras of the Iowa band's exit from the stadium, and it's completely changed my perspective on this incident. The Iowa band marches out of the stadium in formation, moving crisply forward, with no one in sight. When they get outside the stadium walls, there is a relatively narrow exit area, where THOUSANDS of ISU fans are leaving the stadium. ISU fans have that exit area completely filled, shoulder to shoulder, for a long way. Absolutely packed solid. The Iowa band marches through an open, narrow area and then encounters the area filled completely with ISU fans departing the stadium. At this point, the leaders at the front of the Iowa band have a choice: if they simply stop and wait for the exit area to clear, nothing happens. NOTHING! Instead, they choose to try to force their way through a crowd where there is no room, literally forcing ISU fans to physically move out of their way. At a minimum, it was rude, entitled, and arrogant behavior on the part of Iowa's band leaders. Mainly it was just stupid. I live in Waterloo and if any person or group tried to pull that act here, there would have been an all-out riot. I was very sympathetic to the Iowa band's situation until I saw that video. I encourage everyone to watch the video.

Yep. I thought someone got bumrushed or something. This is negligence by Iowa's band leader. Walked the band right into a powderkeg. This is why you have investigations. This is why Iowa shut it down so quickly. Because it is not a good look for Iowa.

Apologies to BryceC and the Clown fans.

I made similar comments earlier and was accused of "hyperbole". You are correct. As long as ISU keeps losing this game, there will be problems and it will get worse.

I can't see any of this from the video.

But, to me.....from the get-go, I never felt there was a coverup. Within hours, both ISU and UI said they would do what they needed to prevent it from happening again. The UI president even went to the "end the series" well.

I agree it's possible to make the argument they tried to "sweep it under the rug".
But from the start, I also agree it's possible they realized they had ZERO chance of identifying any offenders. And I also get the sense from the President's remarks that maybe not everything that's been tweeted about by band members has been reported.

What we know for sure has been reported:
-kid with ladder got pushed and broke ribs
-kids got beer sprayed on them
-kid had full/semi full can/bottle thrown at him
-band elected to use an exit they were advised not to

What we suspect happened, being that it was a brutally long, close game in horrible conditions:
-kids got the bird flipped at them
-kids got taunted
-bad words were said to them

What we've "heard happened"
-other bad things
-sexual assault

It would not at all surprise me to hear that in a group of 260+ college kids, all connected via social media and other interaction....started sharing stories. And in the game of internet 'telephone'.....we wind up with "Jaden told me that Caitlan said that Ashleigh's butt was grabbed by a drunken Clone fan." And....I am not saying that didn't happen. And...I am not saying it wasn't reported. If it did happen, and it was reported.....then yes.....this shit's being swept under the rug and they need to light a fire and kick the tires.

But if the sexual assault didn't happen..... Or it wasn't reported (to any of the impartial options offered by UI including ombudsmen, police departments, and the WRAC), shame on the bandmates who were quick to demand "resolution" to "something" that....while horrible....doesn't really rise to the level of their unclear demands for "justice" and the rolling of heads. I see the foundation of this possibility awfully related to the SJW/"Angry Studies" culture that have led us to the Carson King tweets.

PC, I love ya, but you are buying into Pollards lies and versions of events. He is totally Victim blaming here, he WANTS everyone to think the band is to blame. Pollard FAILED to address these things during his press conference.

-Why did the ISU director of facilities have to offer a written apology for screaming at the Band Director to “get the **** off his field”? Don’t ya think that might have a little to do with maybe the band not following that assholes suggestion. Not only that, but maybe if that guy doesn’t scream at the band, they sit and wait until more people leave. Still lots of question here, but Pollturd wants you to to believe that Iowa just marched there for no good reason, after reasonable being told to go elsewhere. Well we know that the band was already being screamed at by ISU staff, they well could have been just trying to comply with ISU director of facilities.

-Pollturd neglected to point out the sexual assault part of the accusation when he was listing those off.

-He tries to equate his bands experience at Iowa to this, so if he doesn’t like “unfounded accusation” why is he spouting them off himself.

Dont buy into Pollturds version of events for one second PC, he is full of shit and is lying to spin his story to ISU gets out from under this.
