I hope Fran is looking at signing a couple of guards, the cupboard will be pretty bare when Thelwell is gone next season.
Who do Iowa fans want to see leave more between the two coaches???
For me personally it would be Fran, because the program is so stale and he hasn't accomplished anything in the Dance.
For Kirk, it's mostly because of the lack of talented QBs and WRs on the roster for so long.
Based on nothing but the short highlight clip I saw he reminds me of Glen Worley a little.
Wow, I am surprised that there was no basketball game thread today. I know that the competition was subpar and yes we blew them out as to be expected, but having no game thread…………. head scratching.
Have to enjoy the easy wins because that can flip on a dime now that we are into the conference games. Maybe that’s the problem.
We still seem to be lacking at the point guard position and could use another B1G around the rim. Those are critical positions if we are going to compete in the B1G this year.
I came across an interview with Frans kids and their new positions at their new school where one is on the coaching staff, the other a transfer to the program, and the youngest son committed to that program.
Is the writing on the wall for Fran’s departures? Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in their home. The discussions at Christmas dinner couldnt have been too positive about Iowa basketball. Pretty bizarre when you think about it.
Had anyone EVER heard of such a situation for an active Big Ten coach that has three of his kids all at a different college basketball program involved together as a assistant coach, another as a Iowa transfer, and the youngest a four star recruit there also????
Just saw Sam Laporte catch a TD pass as I am typing this post. Go Sam Go!!!! Love it. Lions and 49 ner’s tied up 21-21.
I don't see much at guard next year outside of Harding and Dix, they're going to need some depth at the very least.Dix is really a 2 so we'll be OK at guard, but a couple of recruits or transfers would be good.
How can you not like a 6'8" guy that was the Indy POY the last two years and his coach says is the heart and soul of the team. Seems he will fit in well.
I'm still wondering if Fran will even be the coach next year.
We are better off at the guard spots than we have been in quite a while, both on O and D.They also have Trey Buchanan, the walk on from Indy. Payton Sandfort said he was so good that he was surprised they got him as a walk on. They must be redshirting him.
Bring another guy in like Thelwell from the portal which should be doable.
We'll be OK at guard, maybe not great but good enough.
Yeah, imo this is the best guard combo we've had since Mike G and SappWe are better off at the guard spots than we have been in quite a while, both on O and D.
