If I remember in CJ's case he was in fact injured but it was one of those injuries that wasn't going to get worse by him playing but it wasn't going to get better without surgery. It was basically how much pain could he play through.
I think for sure there were times he should have sat just to get some rest. Just living with pain is a big dealing it takes a toll on you physically and mentally which I think was evident in quite a few games.
Why didn’t you protect him?
So your kid played for the Hawks?
Obviously you believed the doctor or medical staff to allow your son to play.Dont be an ass.
Want it Iowa that claimed to have like one concussion per year....
It’s Not workingIm busy dodging you.
Obviously you believed the doctor or medical staff to allow your son to play.
You’re not willing to give that benefit about Iowa’s coaching staff.
So you’re being the ass for hypocrisy
or
allowing your son to play if you didn’t believe the doctors.
Your choice
It’s Not working
Did your kid play. Not play. Because the context is you say CJ clearly shouldn't have played because of his injuries and you bring your son into inferring he played because of medical clearance.HawkGold said:Ha.... My kid was cleared way to early afrer a concussion and with a tibia stress fracture.
Where was the adult that kept your son from playing with a fracture. didn't you leave someone in charge to make sure a doctor didn't do this.No Mr Ass. With the concussion I did stop it and he was punished. With the fracture I was in the Phillippines on a farm near the volcano and had no connection. No go back to your assery.
yes, of course, there's a reason for you but not other coaches. No Mr Ass. With the concussion I did stop it and he was punished. With the fracture I was in the Phillippines on a farm near the volcano and had no connection. No go back to your assery.

But more importantly, still no comment on how the tv medical diagnosis-thingy actually works for you.
nothing to do about it being college or high school. try harder on your diversion. No idea what you are really getting at. My wife was there, but the coaches/medical staff didn't tell until after. The concussion pressure was real as was the punishment.
College...hs, makes no difference. Was just referring to medical decisions are made oft for the team and not the player. Not sure about the tv comment. My wife is in the medical field as an RN and has worked ER. They made a decision for him to play with the fracture. They made a decision to play with the concussion and I stood in the way.
Real life happens. Not sure why you think college is above all that.
are you drinking?
About CJ, he was clearly slower and he took shots he usually would avoid due to the injuries. You watch games and make judgments. So what's the big deal other than you being an ass? We are all used to it.... or used to all you and your alts.

everyone knows you have a woodie to poke at Ferentz every time you can.
this whole "CJ should have sat because I could clearly see he was so damaged he couldn't avoid hits" medical pronouncement of yours is laughable. just another attempt to throw shade at Kirk.
medical staff gave CJ clearance to play. you say Kirk should not have listened because of your tv medical diagnosis.
doctor gave your son clearance to play. you stopped it. good for you.
doctor gave your son clearance to play. you were away and didn't stop it. good for you. of course in your story you just said "coaches/medical staff didn't tell until after" which is, of course, unclear so you can still maintain your finger-pointing that you know CJ shouldn't have played even staff said he could.
why do you alway resort to name calling when you get questioned and/or called on your BS?
No, I’m sure you’re the only one above this since you always have a way to wash your hands of it — everyone else does it but you.Like I said, you are kind cute some time. No, they knew of the stress fracture before the game. That came from my son. After the game they uncleared him. Nothing changed. They wanted him the game.
You seem to know KF is above this type of thing. Glad you know him. I'll sleep better now. Nite...

But, yeah, you know Ferentz does it.

2013 to 2015 Iowa reported no concussions though most Bigs did. The number in the big was about 40 over three years having been around hs football I call BS on Iowa and other schools with maybe the exception of Pur and NW.
I remember a report where Iowa did report 1 in one year. Its bs.
I don't find it hard to believe that Iowa only had that many concussions. Iowa is one of the leaders in the nation on equipment safety and at least from my recollection hasn't had any game footage that would just scream head injury where guys were laying on the field out cold or even coming off the filed woozy. I think Iowa does a great job at teaching guys to tackle correctly and have had very few instances with guys leading with the head etc in games.
I bring up games because I am only able to watch games not practice and if they are performing like that in games then they are doing that in practice. You can't just turn it on and off at that high of level.
I would find it difficult that anyone on the coaching staff or anyone related to the program would hide or take any head injury cases lightly especially considering the issues with Rhabo a few years ago. With the heightened awareness to CTE I don't think KF wants to go down that road at all.
I'm sorry but I'm gonna need to see some numbers there, because that sounds like BS.Not meaning to be coy. Very few players escape without a concussion over 4 years.
That would be about 10 at least a year. Just no way not.

I played 13 years of full contact football (4th grade thru college), all on the LOS, and never had a single one. The most we ever had as a team in a single season was 2. I can only think of 6 teammates that had them during my entire career, which includes an extra year as a GA. My HS team had one (maybe, but we pulled him as a precaution anyways) for our entire season this year.
This website uses information from the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics to track concussion rates per sport:
https://headcasecompany.com/concussion_info/stats_on_concussions_sports
They reported that football players receive 64-77 concussions per 100,000 athletic exposures (organized practice or competition). That's a 0.064-0.077% chance per exposure.
Now let's get a baseline for an average HS season. 3 weeks of preseason (15 exposures), 9 weeks of 4 practices each (36), 9 games (9), and let's throw a week of the playoffs in there for an even 10 (4+1), which brings it to a total of 65 exposures for each athlete during a season (assuming the players don't play JV AND Varsity games). That raises it to a 4.16-5.005% chance per season, per individual player.
I think you're buying into some of the recent concussion hysteria and not giving enough credit to recent innovations in technique and player management intended to reduce them.
So, as usual, you can't back it up. Shocking. It comes from having kids in sports including football and knowing other players on the team and how parents after the fact report things. It is real. Believe it.
