Delano Hill flips commitment to Michigan

After a **** poor 4-8 season are we surprised at anything the dumpster fire program called football can muster?

So he would have stayed if we went 8-4 this year, or even 9-3? A kid from Michigan, who most likely dreamed of playing for Michigan... Once they offered he was gone no matter what.

That's a great question.

D. Douglass seemed like a big loss on the field.

M. Coker also seemed like a big loss on the field.

A. Robinson seemed like a modest loss on the field

Weigher seemed like a more than modest loss on the field.

Each of those guys had issues and so because of the "issues" fans decided "awe we don't want guys like that".

Mark is 2.0 Marcus. Way better head on his shoulders.

Im not sure. When this program had momentum Ohio State came in with late offers to Arvell Nelson and Anthony Bowman, they told Tressel no thanks. Now, with this program in the ******* those days are history. Now I realize those 2 didnt pan out at Iowa, but that was a time kids were turning down Ohio State to sign with Iowa.

I think those are two great examples but every situation is different. This kid wanted to play at Michigan as he grew up an fan plus he wanted to play in college with his best friend. Those two things didn't look like options when he committed so he chose the school he wanted besides Michigan. Later Michigan offered and his best friend is going to Michigan as well. Can't blame the kid for switching his committment.

Just because Arvell Nelson was from Ohio doesn't mean he grow up an OSU fan (pretty good odds, but we don't know for sure) but Anthony Bowman was from Michigan. Plus maybe they were the type of kids who appreciate loyalty and don't want to get an offer as a fall-back recruit for OSU.

So what do we learn from all of this?

you got to fit in at Iowa

Wouldn't surprise me that there could have been an understanding from the get go by both parties that if MI comes calling that all bets are off. Probably a coincidence but Iowa was already visiting DB Gourdine in Cincinnati on Thursday prior to sites reporting anything but an offer to Hill at that point.

Nine month's ago.........

Hill hopes for Wolverine interest

Johnny Soybean = next Dallas Clark

Billso, you are a good dude but people have to stop with this obsession that walk-ons and 2* guys are going to be ALL-B1G, NFL guys every time. It happens but if this team wants to be success in the national spotlight they have recruit on a national level and get some of the big boys. It worked before, maybe it will again but I doubt it.

Q. Are you going into new recruiting territories?

COACH FERENTZ: You guys probably know more about it than I do, but basically we try to accentuate the Big Ten areas which are expanding.

Sounds like the type of plan a guy making $4,000,000 per would come up with, doesn't it?

Just absolutely incredible

If Jim Caldwell were the Head Coach, we would never lose a recruit to a second tier has-been program like Michigan.

We haven't had anyone from Story City recently, therefore Story City would be a new territory, but I don't know if we could beat out ISU there.

That's probably any town in Iowa any more. Iowa just isn't sexy anymore to recruits top recruits.

What the hell does your post have anything to do with my response to Billso?

But Iowa was the "right" school for all these kids. We have the best fans and the best team and the best coaching staff in the whole country. Why can't somebody explain that to all the four star players out there?

I think in the situation with Delano and Kenney Iowa got screwed.

Michigan was Delano's dream school.

Kenney had a chance to be closer to his dad, play and go to school at the University his dad was employeed.

Reality sucks.

Of course, it's all true. It's makes us feel good about ourselves, so when the next Dallas Clark story comes along 5 years from now, we can say - we told you so to all those who spurned the Hawks.

This all begs the question "why isn't Iowa out handing out a lot of "assistant to the assistant diversity coordinator" type of jobs" that are necessary to land 5 stars? "Oh, hello Mrs. [insert good recruit's name here]. Why say, you know we just posted a new job on this link to the Iowa HR department's website for a job that pays $240k that you seem to be uniquely qualified for." This is not rocket surgery.

Hilarious and pathetic all at once.
