Declaring

The most abused RB I can remember was Javon Ringer at MSU the year we had Shonn Greene. Look at his total carries for the year, it's ridiculous

During his back to back 2,000-yard seasons, Jonathan Taylor carried the ball a total of 627 times.

During Troy Davis' back to back 2,000-yard seasons, he carried the ball a combined 747 times.

Correct. JT had higher YPC. TD getting back to back 2,000 seasons was a major accomplishment because of how terrible his team was. I think Wisconsin has had a few guys who were capable of the same feat recently, but Wisconsin has routinely had a stable of RBs. Not these past few years, though.

There's a joke in there somewhere.... somebody please jump in

and how did Troy Davis do in the NFL?

Yep, I don't remember either.

747 times Troy came back to the huddle and said, "Is that 2000 yards yet?"

The pounding he took affected his wonderlic score. If he would have had only 400 carries, he might have scored a 7.

ISU was so bad that defenses loosened up after the first quarter and Davis was able to gain his yards (only half joking).

He would've had 2 3,000 seasons, but he kept forgetting that teams switch directions after the 1st and 3rd quarters.

Doesn’t matter if he lasts in the league or not. If he goes 1st or 2nd round it’s enough guaranteed money to last his entire life. RBs very rarely last beyond the 4 year rookie contract anyway, and the days of the power running back are over. Unless you’re also a slot receiver you’re obsolete.

Taylor made the perfect financial choice for his future.
The only thing he coulda done better was go last yr. RBs shouldn't take one extra rep in college if they are NFL capable and able. The sooner they get their clock started on that first contract the better just to increase their odds of getting a 2nd. Which is where the real $ usually is for them. Yeah most don't and most aren't getting big bucks but a handful are which Taylor would undoubtebly be trying to get to being. Was he a RS JR? I have it in my head he was and coulda left after last yr maybe I'm wrong about that.

Quintez Cephus just announced he’s going pro which is a huge hit to the badgers offense.
The west is starting to look less daunting.
We just need to have a great off season and come out ready to roll. We should be able to play with any team in the west next year.
If we have guys coming back I could see us going to Indy.

You stated that what Taylor has done isn't as impressive as Davis because of the number of games. It didn't matter. Davis carried the ball more in few games.

If you want to debate that Davis did it on bad teams and therefore his numbers are more impressive, that's different. It had nothing to do with fewer games, though.

We might be the best team in the west next year and still not win it. Our schedule is just too much. OSU is basically an auto loss and then at Penn State maybe a 3/10 chance of winning. Go to Minnesota and play Wisconsin. Michigan State, Purdue, Nebraska, even NW are all games I expect to win, but we COULD lose.

The west would be there for the taking but I don’t think our schedule is going to set up for it.

Well we need to go out there and win them all. But if we split PSU and OSU then take care of business, we will be sitting nicely.

Iowa is going to have to run the table in the West to win it.

And it got a little easier with Wisconsin losing Taylor and their top 2 WRs

It does, though. It is easier if you are spreading that many hits out over 27 games as opposed to 22 and I did note the quality disparities in the teams.

Hopefully AJ, Wirfs and Stone see that the West is really lining up well for Iowa to win it next season and decide to return. If they return holy crap we will be the clear favorites.
