Davis wanted Rucock to get reps

This from back in early October, Greg Davis wanted to get Rudock snaps before the conference season started, but the games outcomes didn't allow for it. If the end of the PSU game wasn't a time to allow for it Greg, I don't suppose we are ever going to see a time that it will. Something is just not adding up.

Right now we just have to assume that Ferentz is accurate in his analysis that JR is way behind JVB and is not ready for B10 play.

He would have some back tracking if JVB went down and Rudock played well.

it is not possible to be much worse, so I won't assume anything

This analysis is news to me. When did Ferentz say this?

Based on what we've seen so far Vandy is not ready for B1G play so what difference would it make. No one's annointing Rudock as the savior at this point, all we're asking for is giving the kid a few reps to show what he is made of.

Guilty! I read it so much that I made the leap that he actually said it.

Not going to change my opinion if this were to happen that Ferentz wouldn't need to answer questions as to why he stayed so long with an inept QB when a more serviceable one wasted on the sidelines.

The more this gets discussed the more curious I am about Rudock's state of mind. Is he, "I agree with coach, I'm not ready", or "I am getting tired of this notion that I'd wet my pants if coach put me in. I want a chance."

Like evereyone here, I'm most upset that Ferentz didn't clear any of this with me first. He didn't even discuss it. Just went along and did what every he wanted to.

Or maybe, "I got a schollly to pay for my pre-med studies, I'm good."

That could be an option too! Point being I wonder if he is frustrated, fine, anxious to get in, doesn't care, etc. because the conclusion a lot of us are reaching based on the way JVB is playing is that Rudock is very, very bad right now.

not the one I'm reaching. I'm remembering when Ferentz kept starting Grigsby, Schnoor, Shada........etc. Were those guys "better"?

I see your point. At the very least, one possibility coming from this is that Rudock concludes KF has zero faith in him or his abilities right now to not even let him get some snaps last Saturday, especially after KF could have let JVB finish on a good note with the TD pass to Davis. Rudock is only a RS Frosh, so I'm not expecting anything out of him, but its seems as some people are saying a person is "ready" in a vacuum, when the the question shouldn't be whether some is "ready", but whether they can actually perform better than the person in front of them.

I don't hold with that, based on the history of McCann/Banks and Christensen/Stanzi
I would say that KFs judgement of QB play is suspect

I heard this is how Rudock feels every Saturday.....

"Undaunted, I knew the game was mine to win. Just like in life, all of my successes depend on me. I'm the man who has the ball; I'm the man who can throw it faster than ****. So, that is why I'm better than everyone in the world."

it's pretty obvious what's going on here. Kirk watches them both practice and sees JVB is better then Rudock. The thing is Rudock could be really good and still not be better then practice JVB who has no pressure because JVB with no pressure is a really good QB. Problem is JVB with pressure is an extremely poor QB and seems to be getting worse.
The only way Rudock is worse then JVB in a game is if he has D1 talent and coincidentally preforms poorly under pressure too. Although that is possible, there is no reason to assume a QB that leads his high school team to a national championship can't handle pressure.
Kirk might be taking longer to realize this because he gets to watch them both practice and therefore is convinced of something that just isn't the case any more. Once you are convinced of something it takes a lot to make you think otherwise and that could very well be what the hold up is. He is holding on to the hope that JVB can play like he does in practice and if he does he will be the best QB on our team.
