DArch MVP of first half

McCaffrey better peel some paint in the locker room. Every player looks scared, hesitant and intimidated offensively. Stop the stupid spin moves in traffic and take a jump shot. Forget taking it at OSU in the paint, it ain't happening. OSU's 10th guy is more athletic than anyone we have, so it might be a good idea to quit trying to go 1 on 3.

OSU has to be given credit for how bad Iowa looks. OSU's athletes are so much quicker than Iowa's players. Iowa is missing many shots but that is mostly because almost every shot is contested and the players are unable to get into any rhythm. OSU is simply that much better than Iowa. OSU gets dunks and we are taking forced shots under pressure. Heck, many of OSU's players at the end of their bench would be getting a lot of playing time at Iowa and they see little to no minutes at OSU.

Better days are ahead for Iowa and Iowa fans. It WAS nice to see Carver packed again. The stench of the end of the Alford era and especially the Lickliter era is finally going away.

On most days the Iowa team will respond to the large crowd. They were simply outclassed today...OSU did not come to Iowa City overlooking the Hawks.

FM diagreed with you in post presser. Said use this game to teach, not to rip.
I will agree that we seem to have fallen in love with the driving spin move in the lane.

Your post does not address it's title at all. Devon Archie did play a very good game. Still waiting to see if he has improved his FT shooting this season. Could only watch the 1st half as I had to work today. Did DA get to the line?

nope the hit on his sore wrist took him out of the game
some none intentional foul as the annoucers put it took him out of the game as the blow was clearly intended for his injured hand
not that should have been needed as Archie is not a Top level big but he is better than Brommer in the Athletic department in Blocks and rebounds

So you think Matta intentionally told his guys to hurt Arch?

The title of my thread is self explanatory. Archie played a good first half simply by giving effort. Not so subtle implication is that the rest of the team didn't show up. Props to DArch for coming out with energy and disrupting OSU defensively, but the deer in the headlights look from the rest of the team was disconcerting. OSU is freaky good, but that was just a bad display of basketball yesterday by Iowa.

Props to Mata for having his guys gently lay the ball in vs. putting on a slam dunk conetest at the end.

I highly doubt someone intentionally tried to reinjure the 11th man on Iowa's roster.

Come on Spank you know Archie was all that was keeping things close in the first half. ;)

If you watch that play in super slow motion on reverse. You will clearly see Mata making a hacking motion followed by a head nod in the direction of his player.

After the play Mata then turns to his assistant and gives a throat cut then pantomimes, using only his upper body the letters I O W A.

This needs to be investigated!

Thought I was the only one who noticed that.....
