Dailey et. al.

Jones as a graduate transfer will be the most likely choice. After that I would say Kriener because there are so many players ahead of him with 2 more good ones coming in. We have a huge need of guards next year, so Williams and Dailey might stay.

How do we need a huge need of guards next year? We graduate one and bring one in

I will admit that I am not a big fan of speculation when it comes to kids transferring. The old saying about "when the light goes on" too often changes a kid's situation dramatically. Also, and I think Brady E. is a good example, the coaches have stuck with him because he is steady, rebounds, plays solid defense, and is a pretty good passer, even though his reputation as a 3 point shooter has been under scrutiny. Basketball is all about roles; and, the role players are often not the starters, exclusively. See Baer, who has found his niche as an off the bench guy, quite probably. Or, take a look: Brady may have kept us from being upset by North Dakota.

I don't know if I see anyone as a high priority when it comes to the transfer predictions. Kreiner is a year or two away...classic "raw" guy who looks to have good hands and feet and a nice shooting touch from short range. Daily is intriguing due to his flexibility...someone above mentioned that he might be a fit for Jok's position down the road..makes some sense. Did not realize he is in the 6'6" - 6'"7 range. Pretty agile and quick for a guy that long.

Dom Uhl is a complete mystery to me. He just plain looks lost most of the time. Cannot decide when to drive, when to shoot, when to play good defense, or rebound. I never, ever bash kids. I just feel bad that he seems so lost. Williams shows flashes. May be another one that has the light go on, rather unexpectedly. Hope so.

Sorry to blabber on, but one more thing. Be careful about planning on future recruits to be superior to what you have on board. We are all knowledgeable enough to recognize that at times the transition from HS/AAU to Power 5 Conference athletics is a pretty darn big jump.

Well we have a need for more guards this year and we lose one guy who plays about 30 minutes per game. At this point, those 30 minutes will have to be taken up by Williams, Dailey, Ellingson, and Connor. As of right now, that doesn't look like the best situation. Also you will be the first to say we could use an upgrade at point guard if possible.

I'm guessing one will transfer out and we'll go after a graduate transfer guard

So are you saying you think Jones and two others will leave? When I heard Jones talk about next year, it sounded like he would be fine leaving if he had to but would stay otherwise. He didn't come right out and say that, but that's what I took from it.

Yeah I think Jones plus two more

I kinda hope Jones stays. Not sure why since we have so many bigs next year. I still have hope for Williams but if he leaves I will be fine. I hope Dailey stays too. He could be a lot like Moss. I don't see how Kriener will ever get any minutes unless Nunge and Garza are both misses. The funny thing is, I think Kriener will end up pretty good. I just think 4 guys will be really good ahead of him.

If Williams is not effectly aggressive, his potential is limited. But he's already used his RS.

Williams played last year as a true freshman so he has not used his RS and can effectively transfer without anything lost.

Uhl never redshirted and obviously neither has Kreiner or Dailey. Any of these guys could transfer without eligibility lost too.

I know Connor is rated highly, I'm just having trouble being sold on him being high Level BIG PG though, anyone else have thoughts on that? I just am having trouble seeing it, not sure why, I'm probably way off though.

It's difficult to project many of our recruits. I was in the camp of 'not sure about Connor' especially after watching him in last year's state tourney but I said the same thing about Cordell Pemsl who has been the biggest surprise this year to me. It might show that Connor plays in a darn good basketball league in Iowa and he is one of the better players. It might also mean that the best Iowa kids most years are pretty solid players and can contribute at this level.

I think Connor is going to be a pass first guy from what I saw but he is capable of hitting a shot here and there too. I am not going to rule him out until we see him play some games at Iowa.

I have never understood the Jones love. He moves on after this year as we are gonna be loaded at the 4/5 position, and honestly I think Fran and Jones had this agreed to as they signed 3 with one open spot so the Jones spot made it 2.

That's what I got from the interview I saw. They agreed he would move on if he had to. But the way he worded it made it sound like it wasn't a sure thing. It seemed like a contengency plan if no one left willingly, and Jones was good either way. Ive always liked Jones because he can hit 3s and has a freakishly long wingspan.

But he can't defend. He was always a reach when we recruited him

I don't think he was a reach, he was just a role player. We needed someone to play backup to Uthoff and Woody, and then play backup/insurance for young bigs this year (Wagner, Cook, Pemsl)

Signing someone in the Spring that nobody wanted is usually a reach in my opinion

Oh, that's right about Williams! I had forgotten he hadn't RSed even though he hardly played. Looking back at the ISU game yesterday, he played fairly well. But his minutes are going down if he doesn't get better fast. This influx of talent pressure is certainly going to help the team in these coming years.

I bet we lose two. Probably Kriener and either Williams or Dailey

Kriener isn't leaving. He has loads of potential and will improve. He has a chance to pass Uhl & Wagner. And he has the height and length to clog the middle. Which we need now... He just needs to mature and develop his game some. That'll happen.

Dailey would be foolish to leave. We need guards. And he has the skills to be good enough to start. With Jok's minutes opening up next year, there will be enough playing time to satisfy 2 players @ 15 minutes a game. That's good PT.

People said Fleming wouldn't leave last year and no way Hutton would since he redshirted and was the lock down defender we needed

Who did you say was leaving last year? I'm sure you had Moss and Ellingson out the door since you said they were horrible and clear misses.
