Dailey et. al.

Kriener might be fine in a couple years too, get some boards, bang around. With a roster this deep it's all up to attitude probably, as to if they are each patient for playing time. Never know with injuries what happens to. I don't see Uhl transferring this late in his career. Doesn't make much sense. The 6 minutes Williams got the other night should be a big wake up call for sure.

Uhl transferring to a smaller school would be no different than a grad transfer, which happens all the time.

Kriener would be an easy pick if he wasn't an Iowa boy. He might want to be a hawk so bad it's worth being a bench player. I think Dailey has a big role when Jok leaves. We will have Moss, JB, Williams, Ellingson, and Connor. That isn't much competition.

With Garza and Nunge coming in plus Cook and Pemsl I just think a big guy is going to have to leave and he'd be the obvious one.

I agree. But if he loves being a hawk, Fran would have to push him out. By the way, Nunge is supposedly 6'11" now. We will be at the top of the Big 10 in the post for quite a while.

I don't think Fran is above pushing people out.

I don't know either way. If I was a coach and wanted to push a player out, it would be easier if it wasn't his life long dream to be on the team. Not saying it would change anything, but it might.

That's why I'm happy I'm not a coach. Lots of tough decisions ethically and strategically to make your team better

If Kriener stays, which is my hope...he might be a great addition in his junior and senior years, with experience and a bit more strength. He projects as a role player, which every good team needs. Need to have enthusiastic team players at the end of the bench for practice, injury fills, and foul out situations. A team filled with "stars" is not always a good thing.

It will depend on Kriener's personality, and how Fran treats him. I like to have some good Iowa players on an Iowa team.

Williams seems to appear "gone" already...with JB and others on the rise for minutes.

Grad transfers don't have to sit out though. Dom is a Junior, is he set to graduate early? Guess I'm not following.

I really think our only transfer options right now are Kriener, Williams and Dailey

Jones as a graduate transfer will be the most likely choice. After that I would say Kriener because there are so many players ahead of him with 2 more good ones coming in. We have a huge need of guards next year, so Williams and Dailey might stay.

I'm already counting Jones as gone

There is a chance that happens I agree. If so, its critical Fran lands that stud PG we need. This team will be something huge if we get that guy. Bohannon will be very solid as a PG/SG role for 4 years just like his brothers were. If no one transfers thats fine too, we could be a program that develops guys for 4 years and most of them understand the PT the first few years might be slim that works too.
I know Connor is rated highly, I'm just having trouble being sold on him being high Level BIG PG though, anyone else have thoughts on that? I just am having trouble seeing it, not sure why, I'm probably way off though.
I'm thinking 2017 will take care of itself. Probably Jones will leave. This would be his second redshirt and put him approaching his mid-20s by the time he graduated. If he's good enough to figure prominently in the rotation next year, going pro in Europe at his age would be an option to consider. If he's not strong enough for that, he could transfer to somewhere where he can get minutes while he strengthens.
Uhl leaving might happen, as well as others. With Pemsl emerging, Cook eminent, Garza and Nunge arriving, the 4-5 positions are getting crowded for minutes. Might Nunge consider a RS- or Kriener a Sophomore RS? Likewise, all the guards have potential. Fran has collected a nice group. But there are only so many minutes. If Williams is not effectly aggressive, his potential is limited. But he's already used his RS. I too would like a scholly to open up for a PG, but any option for that is going to hurt a little with transfers. My choice would be Tre Wood- a PG we've offered from Garza's hometown of D.C. in the 2018 class. I like his tape the best of any of the PGs we've offered upcoming. If one of our young bigs RSed, we'd have a nice 2018 class that way.
