Come listen to my story about a man named Fred, former clown player, coach's for little red, official early Nebraska @ Iowa game thread

This is the correct answer. Expectations should be mid to low every year and just be pleasantly surprised if good stuff happens. If you can’t be that type of fan you are destined to be a miserable shmuck following Iowa. Complaining about it is pretty stupid, it’s who we are. There are bigger things to be mad about in life.
Well said. We play fantastic games against Sparty and Indiana then just look lost on defense against Nebbie. Moving forward I suppose anything other than 1 and done in either tournament should be looked at as a bonus.

Will you please not insult cold shite sandwiches like that? ;)

One similarity I’ve seen between Kris and Roy M is that both players have great skill sets and great games but both also have played games where they just seemed disinterested or lacking energy and/or focus.

When I see Kris like this I can’t help but think back to when Roy had these types of games. I know all players have their lulls but in Kris and Roy’s case unfortunately they happen in important games. I totally wish the best for Kris in what ever pro league he ends up in. It was a pleasure watching him, his brother, and his dad play in an Iowa uniform. Thank you to the entire family.

Kris might have lost a couple of million bucks today

Ironically Patrick was hot from three land in the first half.
Yea... But he still was typical suck on D, started dribbling too much and became his usual non-factor over the course of the game.
With Kris going to Europe, I simply shudder at PMac being "the guy" next year.

I know this is gonna make some of you mad....

Late in the game, down by 3. If Lute were coaching, who would he work hard to deny the ball? He would have made sure S Hoiberg at 88% ft shooter wasn't going to get the pass.

I doubt Iowa thought about that.

Yeah, yeah keep yukkin' it up with your little clown friend there. Maybe you should have been getting your team in the proper mindset for the game. Even MSU had a bit of trouble but shut the Huskers down when it was crunch time.

Hawks finished 2-5 vs teams that will face each other on Wednesday, with another loss against the tenth place team.

Unacceptable, and the players would be the first to tell you. How they fix it is up to them.

They could start by playing some defense. Under Fran defense has been sparse to say the least. If there were a stat for the team that gives up the most open looks, I think Iowa would lead that.

I see your point as it is just a sport and likely bares no direct correlation on most of us other than suffering emotional let downs. Having said that the same could be said about win we have a great win. It’s like fans you see high fiving each after a big play. What the heck did they have to do with it. On bad plays should they turn and kick each other in the nuts. Lol
Why not just expect kicks in the nuts and not be mad about it, and just be happy when things go well? Easier life. I love the Hawkeyes and it doesn’t mean I care less, I just know where Iowa’s place is in the world and when it’s better than that I get to celebrate.

Good to hear. Now you can stopfollowing the Hawks. Won’t miss your stupid trolling.

I still don't get it. Shaka Smart can do what he is doing in Marquette but he wouldn't do that in Iowa? Iowa just has their place but Marquette can be 25-6 and win their first outright conference title in 20 years. In the shadow of Wisky and the B1G. He would be doing about the same thing here. They would be right there with Purdue if this was his second year. They sure as hell would have won 20 games this season.

Lol...

How soon people forget...

Todd Lickliter won 26 games at Butler his first year (school record), got Butler in the top 25 for the first time in 53 years, and made the sweet 16 twice in 6 years. 2007 national coach of the year. All "in the shadow of Indiana and the Big Ten."

When are people going to figure out that the past almost never dictates the future? Your post is the perfect example. You want to ditch Fran and hire an up and coming small ball coach because he's lighting the world on fire. What your suggesting as a better alternative to a coach who's almost always outpunched his weight class in one of the toughest conferences in the nation (Fran), is to hire a carbon copy of Todd Lickliter!

Holy frickin' shit, man.

Can we add Stevie wonder boy to that list too???

Still there is that desire in most sports fans to want to do better.

You would want to hope and think that from a forward or center position that things should dramatically improve. Fran has proven he can coach up players in these positions. So hopefully we start seeing upticks in these positions. Hopefully, a guard will come on board next year that can get that position rolling. I think someone said we do have that type of Freshman coming in. Hopefully, can mentor him and help get him ready.

Damn just one win away from being a two seed in one of the strongest conferences in the country. You gotta like that after just winning the BTT last year. Sure we are disappointed, but to be in that position is a credit to Fran.

The head scratcher is what the heck is with the team when we get to the March tournament? We should be doing better and be able to crack the ice once in awhile.

I want to do better. But I also don't lose my mind and get pissed when we don't because I know that Iowa is what it is in basketball and football. We're still better than the vast, overwhelming majority of D1 schools in the country in both of those sports.

Playing musical coaches ain't gonna work. It's a bunch of irrational bullshit done out of desperation. As nebraska.

Brialliant! Sad to see you're back to sandbagging threads until you gear up for your condescending Monday morning drive by. I called you out for it several months ago and, maybe not due to that but you at least backed off for a while and made an attempt to offer semi-normal posts that included mostly relevant substance. Unfortunately, your overall ignorance has broken free of remission and you're back to spewing drivel.

Do you even know what a troll is old man? What I posted isn't "trolling". It's stating the truth of a valid observation within the well-known context of my general dislike of C-Mac as a basketball player. He had great upside but, tragically, has suffered both physical and now mental issues that have reduced his game to exactly what I described. I know it's not my call but I'm entitled to my opinion that I feel it would have been in his and the Hawkeye basketball teams' best interest if he would have sat out at least this season (and, as far as I'm concerned, permanently).

You and your delicate sensibilities may not agree with my assessment nor like my opinion. This being a forum would make it completely appropriate to rebut with your own thoughts, assessments, facts and opinions.

Then again, based on your posting history, that might be bit taxing for such a pious, hypocritical pussy. Maybe best to stay in your lane and stick to launching your ad hominem bombs in order to satiate your self-anointed glory.

Oh, what's that ... the definition of a "troll". Just as the 3 fingers pointing back at you were indicating.

If we go after Shaka, a 45 year Hawk basketball fan is bailing. Shaka will always find a way to screw things up

Okay, I get it. Marquette doesn't need to "know their place" but we should. There are no good young coaches that will do well here. They can do it other places but no point here. Coach K should be counting his lucky stars he wasn't here. Lute knew to get the hell out of here when he did. He wasn't gonna go to a final four here. Never disappointed cause we know our place we don't underachieve cause we know not to expect more goods things and "at least it's not Lickliter". A little selective amnesia, some reaffirming of lowered expectations, some remembering Lick and that pesky desire to have done a bit better is gone.
