It's all good.I really didn't read the whole conversation you were having. I just saw someone mention LT's 40 time and thought I'd look it up. Was amazed at how similar he was to Barkley. Sorry if my post was taken that way.

You know what I'd like to know ( which we never will) Is what's the 40 times of all the current starters at MLB? (other any other positions for that matter) But in Jewels case I'd be interested to know what he's up against there. Kuechly is pretty much the best of the best right? I bet he runs under a 4.7ish. But the rest of them where are they? What Jewel lacks in strait line speed he makes up for in everything else football related. He's tall enough big enough strong enough It's not so much how fast you are but it's about not taking any wasted steps and keeping yourself from being blocked for long if at all. He's as good as any MLB Iowa's ever had at reading/reacting to plays pre & post snap. He'll be a great NFL linebacker for someoneOh definitely. Bringing them in at 225-235 is about ideal. The outlaws 40 didn't do him any favors, maybe you can adjust slightly because of his game speed, but it didn't help.
Really even if you have a backers at 230 and sub 4.5 which is fairly good, then you can certainly have an elusive, rb at 210 -215. As for height, I'd rather have a taller lb than a rb.
Really we are talking 2in and 20 lbs or so. That's why the intangibles are important. Which should help JJ and AW.
Now db's, wr's and Te's I would definitely place slightly more value on height, weight, vertical, wing span and 40. Db's and wrs have to excel at speed or vertical or they get smoked (as the past has shown us).
Te is just a bigger version and usually slightly slower.
But not always.
I seem to remember watching one of ours turn on the jets.
Intangibles. Same with AW. Same with Ol and DL.You know what I'd like to know ( which we never will) Is what's the 40 times of all the current starters at MLB? Yeah the Doug Flouties are a thing of the past. Wilson and Brees are about as short as it gets nowadays. And they have to be above and beyond an average player to make it or they just wouldn't have been given the chance. The OU Heisman winner coming in Mayfield isn't much taller than 6'0 I don't think so it'll be interesting to see how he doesIntangibles. Same with AW. Same with Ol and DL.
The numbers don't tell me whole story and that holds more true the closer you get to the trenches. Our lines do fairly well at the collegic level and
beyond. They could be a little bigger, but again 10-15 lbs doesn't tell the whole story. Except qb of course. I mean you don't see very many 5'10 5'11 qbs. Behind 6'6 lines.
Wilson was a freak. Plus he had that I'm going to beat you attitude also. Not cocky but just a hey let's play and see what happens type person.Yeah the Doug Flouties are a thing of the past. As a 49er fan I've seen enough of Wilson to know he's just a damn good player. Hard not to respect him. He wasn't really all that his first yr even though he won the job from that former Packer who signed as a FA. But once he got his feet under him he's been awesome. And yeah Brees is Brees. HOFer no doubt about it. Another year or two of padding stats will just solidify itWilson was a freak. Plus he had that I'm going to beat you attitude also. Brees is like Payton very very intelligent.

CJ will have to bide his time and just be ready whenever an injury happens. I think he's in a great spot to just learn and be a backup for awhile and as his GM Lynch said he can be the next Jimmy G in a few years. Being a backup QB knocking down 800k isn't a bad gig and if you flash enough in the cameos you make in pre season someone else will want to take a chance you then. Kinda like that Bama QB McAarron. He's goin to have someone sign him to a pretty darn good deal this off season and he's hardly played.Cj has a shot at making some noise. He will get faster at it for sure. That's what the older guys understand, if the line can't protect you, just live until the next down. Young guys are fighting for a spot or to be told they don't have to worry. They hold on to it longer or try and force it. But he did pretty good and will just get better.
Definitely a little opportunity never hurt anyone. Unless they squander it.CJ will have to bide his time and just be ready whenever an injury happens. Iowa's elite players are testing out slower than advertised...glad I was sitting down when I read the numbers...stunning...
Scouts are raving about Daniels. Here's an article with a lot of comments from today: Link
Also, Saquon Barkley measured 6'0" 233 lbs. He ran a 4.40 40 yard dash, bench pressed 225 lbs 29 times, and had a 41" vertical.
I was thinking he was a 4.3 guy or faster.
Didn't say AW can't have a career in the NFL. Was just trying to point out that comparing players playing now to players 20 years ago doesn't really equate to anything. How about Dion Lewis (Patriots)? 5 foot 8, 195 pounds. This year, 896 yards rushing (5.0 yds/carry) to be the Patriots leading rusher. 32 receptions as well. Drafted in the 5th round by the Eagles in 2011. Traded to the Browns. Cut by the Browns. Cut by the Colts. Patriots picked him up off the scrap heap and made something out of him.
