Coker gets snubbed

The Minn game might be a little deceptive considering that Burkhead was pulled for most of the second half, and for all of Cokers stats, Iowa didnt beat the gophers.

LOL, I thought we were talking about stats not W/L's

That said fine let's take out Coker's far and away best game and take the Minny game out for both.

Coker 90 carries for 387 yards (97 YPG and 4.3 YPC)
Burkhead 93 carries for 356 yards (89 YPG and 4.1 YPC)

Whoops that didn't seem to work out like you thought it would did it?

...And Burkhead put Nebraska on his back and won games. The kid is all heart, the award is about being the best not padding stats.

LOL, yeah can you go over what games Coker was "padding stats"?

Please you are wrong just admit it and move along.

Coker is a tough, north/south back but right now is lacking that game changing ability. I don't know if he was hurt or what but he seemed really slow this year as compared to the Insight bowl. I don't know if he was running conservatively after the first few fumbles at the beginning of the year or what but I never once said "wow" this year when he had the ball.

Sorry, but that is BS. They averaged the same number of carries per game (24) in the Big 10 games. If he was really putting this team on his back, he should have a LOT more carries than that.

he is hurt.

he is hurt.

Yes, he was obviously hurt and worn down by the season long beating he took. My problem with this (and I first want to say I don't think Ferentz should be fired as that is crazy talk) is how hurt does someone need to be before they come out of the game? I can't get the image of Nielsen hobbling back to the huddle on one foot for the entire Iowa State game and most of the Pitt game out of my head, and thinking at the time, "How bad must Nielsen's back up be?" Turns out when Iowa went to Hitchens finally against Pitt he played pretty well... This is not a "McCall" post. I could care less about McCall individually. It's a "can't we get someone, anyone fresh in there - heck I'd be fine with giving Rogers 10 carries a game to lighten the load, especially when it's so obvious Coker is hurt to the point that it's affecting his play.

This.

And in obvious 4 and 5 WR sets why do we have our TE in the slot? Last time I checked we have more than 3 WR's on our roster. Is it really that tough to make an adjustment in our personnel groupings?

Coker was a complete non-factor against the 3 best teams Iowa played: PSU, MSU, Neb.He was great at piling up a lot of yards against terrible defenses. That is not 1st team All-B1G material.
Um if you look back at the teams that both rbs played against coker wins the head to head easily

Maybe they want the D to keep in a couple LBs. If we send in 5 WRs they may send in a nickel or dime.

I honestly have no idea. Just throwing that out there.

Rex Burkhead and Montee Ball get All B1G honors. Coker makes Second Team. Coker should have gotten Burkheads spot,he finished with more yards than Burkhead and almost identical in every other stat. Coker even has more receiving yards also

Other than Ball, who was literally a "lock" (unanimous across both coaches and media), ANY of the following could have been chosen: Burkhead, Coker, Redd

NONE would have been "What?!" type choices.

I am more mystified by Prater's second consecutive 1st-team selection (by coaches). What are us ham-'n'-eggers missing?

probably gave it to him for his abc performance against us. the announcers were having a love affair with him and his team won, so he gets the nod. no big deal, coker first team for the next two years...
