Coach Ferentz apologist - Guilty

Every time I say good things about coach Ferentz they lose and every time I bad mouth him they win.

So here goes for the Illinois game. Coach Ferentz, You need to do things differently. I think your system is outdated, and so on and so on.

So, I FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION!

That should do it.

I disagree, 9 win seasons don't establish a tradition good enough to get the top recruits in the country. I'll go back to the Wisconsin example, they've been one of the best teams in the Big Ten for quite some time but they still do not attract enough 4/5 star recruits to have top recruiting classes. They are on the verge of their 4th season in a row with at least 9 wins and 11 out of their last 13.

This. And comparing recruiting classes, we are at the same level, if not slightly above in terms of ranking the classes. So what gives???

No, it's too nice. You farted with a smile.

You mustered one up eh?

I agree on the recruiting. I'd LOVE to have someone dynamic do some recruiting. But whats the sell? Come here with 2-3 other 4/5 star players and we will try to compete with those other schools that wanted you to play with 30 4/5 star players? There is no logic in that for a recruit. Alabama..Ohio State..Michigan...Notre Dame...USC....you get the idea...of they want you, you are not coming to Iowa. Show me the dynamo that could sell Iowa. Then tell me why he would coach at Iowa.

How many 10+ win seasons did Hayden deliver in his 20 years? I'm just confused how one is perceived as great and the other terrible. Yes..I give the edge to Hayden for building the program...but wasn't Ferentz a huge part of it during Haydens best years? It comes down to coordinators. Maybe Brian Ferentz will fit the bill. College player. Coached with Belli-cheat.You might see BF next year or more likely 2018.
Can't argue with any of that. Although Ole Miss has had some very lean years and simply by bringing in Hugh Freeze their recruiting classes have been significantly better so that would be an argument against selling Iowa. Hayden built it from thee worst program in the country. He had to do it a certain way and maybe he did it with just 2 and 3 star recruits. I never said KF hasn't done great things at Iowa but it's a little like Hayden at the end they just hand around because they have nothing better to do even though everyone knows it's over. IMO giving KF a 5 year extension was a bad bad move and could damage Iowa for a very long time if it continues to go south.

But you can't disagree that 9+ over a 3 or 4 year period is more appealing then three years of 6 and 7 win ball and a rare 10 or 12 win season sprinkled into the mix.

Boise State isn't relevant. They had a couple seasons. If Boise State is your proof.....sorry....not enough evidence.
I disagree.
His own kids' favorite team is Iowa.
Not Oklahoma, but Iowa.
Where do you think that comes from?
Stoops is not, would not, will not ever coach the Hawks. You'd leave Oklahoma for Iowa? His common response has been he's happy where he's at. A couple years back there would have been a fire to go with that smoke.

So you're saying if we want Ferentz to leave, we aren't real fans?

They don't want him to leave as most real fans don't want him to leave either. IF we win the last 2 games, 8-4 is a good record. The coaching hot seat doesn't exist. I think one needs only to look 2 hours to the north and west of Iowa city to see the other side of college football success.

I'd question your support of the team, certainly. But I did say MOST real fans. If you want to devote 2+ decades of being angry with your favorite team because you don't like the coach...I just feel bad for you. Why be a fan? Thats a LONG time to hate something and still say, but I'm a fan.

Boise State has averaged 12 wins per year over the last 11 years. They have (3) BCS bowl wins during that time frame, beating Oklahoma, TCU and Arizona in those games. They are 12-5 in their last 19 bowl games. They also accomplished that with coaching changes. What Boise State has done is amazing. Granted, their regular season schedule is not tough but they have proved how good they are by kickin ass in bowl games. They also play a much tougher non-conference schedule than Iowa does and they almost ALWAYS have to play those games on the road as no one will go to Boise..

Just to clarify, my support of the team and my support of Ferentz are two entirely different things. I never mention not being happy with the players. I just don't support Ferentz...to be more micro, I don't support his style of play or his inability to be more flexible/adaptive. As a man, he is a good guy and I believe he has good ethics but that isn't enough for me to disregard my opinion that we could do better or at the very least find another coach with good traits in the ethics department but have a more exciting style of play. Don't feel bad for me, I still have my season tickets that my family has had since 56 and I donate quite regularly via the Iclub because I'm a fan of the program, just not the coach. GoHawks!

Oh, he said he's happy where he's at, huh.
Of course.
Because if he would like to coach at Iowa, he clearly would be saying that.
Yeah. That would sound great in Norman.
