Interestingly, Kansas also has a 4* recruit for next year, and got one this year as well. The averaged rankings for ISU's recruits puts next year's class as worst in the B12. (3 worst: ISU *2.53 average, KSU *2.63, Kansas *2.67)

I looked it up. The average prediction was 6.75 wins with 30% of predictions being 8 or more wins. The worst record predicted was 5-7, and 0% predicted a loss to Iowa.

If you breakdown returning players from last season between the two teams in my opinion ISU didn't look 1-10 bad. Richardson and the O-line have had health issues all season. They had reasons to be optimistic. 8 wins optimistic, was a little much in my opinion. If you want to talk about the predictions in the Iowa vs. ISU, I mean come on half this board predicted ISU would win until they lost to UNI.

Yep, because there are a few Iowa fans on this board that don't live on Mars. I know I looked at ISU's schedule before the year and saw 3-4 wins. That thread had zero...yes zero that saw them winning less than five games. Without looking at the prediction thread on this site, I assume it ranged from 1 or 2 wins, to 9 or 10.

I had us pegged at anywhere in the 3-5 wins with how things could shake, leaning more in the 3-4 range, which many fans I talked too thought so too. It's been a rough year, but hey that's what busch light is for, and basketball season.

I think more Iowa fans were pessimistic this past off season and ISU was more optimistic. ISU fans had hovered around 6-7 wins sine CPR took over with a returning QB and a good center and some decent WRs (mostly Bundrage) they wanted to take the next step. After all that is the main thing hawk fans tell them they can't do. So add that all up and many predicted 6-8 wins. I agree I thought 5 maxif all went pperfect but it didn't.

I remember every single time I heard a discussion about Iowa State's upcoming season Cyclone fans would say "Well we finally have a good QB returning so things will start turning around". Then Hawkeye fans would respond with "Dude Sam Richardson played a couple good games last year against garbage defenses. That says nothing about what kind of QB he's going to be this year." They simply didn't want to hear it.

That is part of being a fan though. At least for most people. You want to have optimism for your team. Many Hawk fans thought because JVB had such a good Junior year that he was going to be stellar last year, and look what happened there.... That was a freaking nightmare.

Yeah, right. I work in an entire nest of Cyclone fans and to a person they thought 6 wins, minimum. UNI has their worst team in years. Iowa was predicted to have their worst team in years. Tulsa is 2-8. Kansas sucks, TCU sucks, West Virginia sucks. Texas is average. 3-0 start was a given for those fans.. Amazing how many fans are now saying that they knew ISU would be bad this year. The reality is they are anywhere from very average to very bad, every year so one can ever be too far off on a prediction for the Cyclones.
