Illinois went to the rose bowl as a 9-3 team and you are saying that is a better season than Iowas 10-2? How on gods green earth can you possibly make an argument for that?

Had OSU not gone to the BCS title game Illinois is in the cap one, it was a fluke that will never be allowed again, Illinois did not earn a rose bowl period.

Your probably one of those guys who would rather go to the rose bowl than the BCS title game arent you?

New flash this isn't the 80s anymore. Things have changed and are continuing to, the bowl system isn't even going to be around that much longer.

You're actually wrong about the 02 season. And bince you are going by the old rules Iowa would have gone to the game bince our last trip was in 91 and OSU had been there in 97.

None of Ferentz's 10-2 teams ever had to face Jake Christensen when he was throwing darts like he did in the 2007 game against Illinois. For all the crap that kid got, he did something Stanzi never did, he beat Illinois. And he beat Northwestern.

Irregardless, I would also like to point out that the 2007 Illini rolled into C-bus and punked a very good OSU team. When's the last time the Hawks did that? I'll give you a hint, KF wasn't the coach. And clownfan, the coach didn't freaking cry in the locker room after the game.

And bince I know no one on here knows any history, this play, right here, was a million times better than watching Ferentz chomp his gum while the clock wound down in the waning seconds of the LSU game (thankfully O'Keefe saved the day). But that was back when the Hawks could measure up with the big boys in the conference, and didn't play second fiddle to Northwestern and Illinois. Now we've got a fella coaching, who with the Rose Bowl hanging in the balance, takes a flipping knee at C-bus.

Guys, please stop responding to me. I am remembering why I bought Northwestern tickets. They aren't charging me Cadillac prices for a Chevy Cavalier. I never bought a Cadillac Cimmaron. They are charging me Hyundai prices for Honda quality.

Asking for a guy who pulls north of $3 mil a year for just a single Rose Bowl or win in C-bus must mean I'm setting my expectations too high.

No, I don't think so. YOU were the one bringing in your ridiculous Rose Bowl argument to combat Vintage's comment. And just about any Iowa fan would hardly disagree with a disparaging remark about anything Illinois-related, which means that had YOU not taken the thread in this direction, things would have continued to move along smoothly.

Oh, so now talking about Iowa's lack of Rose Bowl appearances is ridiculous? Son, you were either in gestation or diapers the last time the Hawks played in the Rose Bowl, so don't tell me that asking for one, just one Rose Bowl once every fifteen years is ridiculous.

Talking about how Illinois' Rose Bowl appearance (and their utter futility in said appearance) is superior to Iowa's Orange Bowl appearance (and their sheer domination in said appearance) is what makes your argument completely ridiculous.

Sheer domination? That game was in doubt well into the 4th quarter. My guess is we would have gotten housed by Oregon if we went to the Rose Bowl after the 2009 season. They played that dink and dunk offense, no huddle style and it would have made our defense look absolutely foolish. But I would take getting housed and going to Pasadena to play the PAC 10 champion in the Rose Bowl the way God intended over playing an overrated ACC team in some marginal BCS game with thousands of empty seats.
